How much do y'all pay for formula?

I've spent so much money the past six weeks since my son was born on bottles, milk bags, nursing and pumping bras, a nursing top, nursing cover, breast pump bag, a probable breast pump with cups, and four sets of phalanges, etc etc. I thought I'd be saving money by breastfeeding but I don't think I am xD I'm curious how much formula feeding costs per month and how many months I'll have to breastfeed to offset the start up costs of getting my milk supply up and running. Thanks for all responses!

How long did you breastfeed for?

I’m just curious to get other peoples’ stories and perspectives on this. Not really looking for advice, I’m two months into this and I’m finding it bearable if not slightly annoying lol, but I don’t have plans to stop soon. My mom weaned us when we got teeth cuz she “wasn’t dealing with that”, so we all got breastfed until we were 6-9 months old. On the other hand I met a woman from South Africa in the waiting room at the doctors office who nursed her kids until they were at least 2; her youngest stopped nursing at age 4 because his friends were making fun of him for it and said they’d stop playing with him unless he stopped.

The history of the Black experience is all about purpose and power. Therefore, teach Black history with that reality in mind. @edutopia @UrbanEdDJ https://t.co/YUPDSROqzS

I wish I had an abortion..

I became a mom to triplets at 20. My pregnancy was incredibly high risk, I even had an emergency surgery awake at 18 weeks to split my placenta. They are now a year old and two of the babies are medically complex. Gtube, trach, medications, a total of 10 specialists they see monthly and more… Whenever I go to bed all I think about is how happy I’d be if I didn’t listen to people telling me “You can handle this” or “God works in mysterious ways”. I love my kids but if I had an abortion they wouldn’t have had a traumatic birth and I wouldn’t suffer from PTSD/PPA/PPD. Before I got pregnant my husband and I traveled every month, went out, had an intimate relationship and we’re happy. Now he works all day/night, I haven’t gone outside in 3 months(besides my porch) and I’m going bald from stress. I’m just a nurse who can’t leave their job.

Today I was mom shamed in public by strangers for the first time and I am absolutely heartbroken. Hoping to find some solidarity 😞

Flu

Being that our babies don’t get their flu shot til 6 months, do we have to make sure everyone is vaccinated for it? I want to do everything to protect my baby who was a preemie, but I’ve been told by antivaxx family members we’re being extreme. During the first 2 months we’ve been super stickler making sure everyone has TDAP/flu

Every day, I get nothing done.

You would think being on maternal leave = lots of free time. But no, between napping, pumping, cooing the baby, eating, nothing else gets done. Had a whole load of laundry to put away, i got through 5 items. 6 am BF + pump - aka stuck in bed or a chair for 2 hours 8 am puts baby down to sleep, pee, tries to eat fast breakfast, but alas he only wants to sleep while held. So the next 2 hours are in bed with the baby. Maybe sneak in a nap (i know, not the safest sleep habits) 10 am - BF/pump Rinse and repeat. And between 11 pm - 5 am, he’ll fuss and get at most 1-2 hours a night. Idk how single and or working parents do this

Imagining the worst

FTM to my 1 year old and since he was born I have this irrational imagination that he gets into situations that will end in death and it really takes over. For example me and my husband want to go whale watching and I picture taking my son and him (being a strong monster) getting out of mine or his arms and falls into the ocean and just sinking and struggling. I don’t know why I do this I don’t even mean to it’s just such a strong fear that takes over. Is this kind of normal?

New job, daycare for daughter

I got a new job offer today! It's an atleast 20k pay increase from what I'm currently making. The only catch is my daughter who is 3 months old needs childcare 2 days a week. My family is so disappointed in me and telling me the new job is not worth the pay increase if my daughter has to go into childcare. They are making me feel like such a bad mom. What do I do??? Take the job? Or stay at my current job so my daughter doesn't have to be in childcare. I need advice.

Baby is likely to be skipping crawling. When did yours walk?

This is my second baby. He's 9 months old. He has shown no interest in crawling or being on his belly. But he loves standing and walking. Sometimes the only way to stop the "I'm not happy doing this" scream is to let him walk around (in walker or holding my hands). I'm pretty sure he is going to walk (independently) before he decides to crawl. My oldest was crawling by 7-8 months and walking by 10-11 months so I am at a loss right now. So babies who skipped crawling, when did they just start walking?

I can't bear going back to work.

We can't afford for me to stay off much longer. I tried putting LO in nursery and it made me borderline suicidal after 2 days. I'm aware that's probably not normal but what can I do about it. We can't claim any government assistance because my partner earns too much but we can't live on just his wage either. My maternity pay runs out march/April and I have no idea what I am going to do.

Where are my US winter storm Bromos at?

This is me sending you booze, hugs, tubs of ice cream, or endless cups of coffee. Whatever you need. We’re forecasted to get up to 18.” We normally don’t see anything close to that. So far my toddler had made our windows and walls her personal canvases, dumped her sippy cup all over my husband’s speaker that’s in the middle of our currently under renovation family room, and thrown blocks at my overly sensitive 6 y/o. I’m currently trying to keep my eyes open and making my third cup of coffee. We’ve already baked cookies, colored, and played with everything I have out. It’s only Wednesday. School is likely canceled through Friday. How are you doing?

When should boys learn how to shave?

My son (13) is starting to get visible facial hair. It's still pretty peach fuzzy, but definitely darkening over his upper lip. When should he be learning how to shave?
