What’s the most expensive thing your baby has broken/ruined?

Me and my husband are working from home today. I had my BRAND NEW MacBook on my lap while I was working on the couch. I heard a knock… my husband locked himself out while he was taking out the trash. So I put the laptop on the couch, got up, opened the door for husb, turned around and saw my daughter had somehow pulled it to the ground and was sitting on a cracked screen while pouring her sippy bottle into the keyboard. I literally took my eyes off her for 5 seconds. Well… most expensive lesson learned. This surpasses the time she flushed my makeup bag. I am blaming my husband for locking himself out. Anyway, I’m trying to feel better about my fuck-up…so please share 😭

How long until your body feels good again?

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and more than ready to get my body back. I don't mean breastfeeding (I'll be doing that and I know it's a huge other thing regarding bodily automony) or even getting to use my old clothes (I know that takes some months), I mean the "little things" like being able to easily pick things up from the floor, tying your shoes, walking for an hour without feeling out of breath, standing while you cook without pack pain, etc. You know, the daily stuff. I feel exhausted and all I do seems like slow motion and a huge ordeal... because it is. Assuming a regular vaginal delivery (I know C-sections come with their own set of issues), how long until you feel comfortable in your body again? This final stretch is being much harder than I thought, even though I'm having a very smooth pregnancy (but I'm also quite old for this, 43).

Breastfeeding and invited to a wedding

My daughter is 11 weeks old and we’ve been triple feeding working towards EBF and getting hopefully close. We got invited to a wedding of a friend in July that I’d love to go to. They said they’d prefer we get a sitter but would understand if we had to bring the baby, but I worry that’s just them being nice. So here’s the thing: 1. Wedding is 2 hours away 2. Only people nearby who could babysit are my parents but they both have a lot of pretty serious health issues and we don’t feel comfortable leaving her with them for that long. Do I be that person and say I have to bring my baby? Do I not go? If the wedding was closer that would be a different story but if we go we may end up spending the night and that brings me back to not being comfortable leaving her with my parents for that long. For my wedding we said no children except for immediate family and if anyone was breastfeeding they were welcome to bring their baby. Any of you ever end up in this situation? What did you do?

Flying with toddler who just turned two

We’re trying to book flights through delta for mid June with our baby. He turns 2 on June 12, so he will miss the free flight cutoff by about 10 days. Is it A) morally wrong to lie about his birthday on the ticket so he can ride free one more time and B) will anyone actually check?!

Pacifier vs thumb… which one “sucks” least?

Forgive the mediocre pun. I’m a first time mom to a 10 week old baby boy. He is exclusively breastfed and has a great latch. No issues. He has loved his pacifier since he arrived on Earth, and is now starting to discover his hands and thumbs. When he can manage to get his fist to his face he pops a thumb in his mouth and starts to suck. My question: is there any difference between thumb and pacifier in terms of eventually breaking the habit? Is one better than the other for any reason?

Am I the only one bawling my eyes out over everything?

Baby is 6 days old and I’ve been crying so much! Not really because I’m sad, but from things like “oh my god I love this baby so much.” Or an episode of Bluey (S2E9 “sleepyhead” made waterfalls). I know hormones are wild after giving birth but my goodness!

Moms who lost weight effectively and safely, how’d you do it?

This is my first time ever being overweight and I really want to lose at least 30 pounds but I want to do it safely and not in a way that I have to starve myself. I’m gonna speak to my doc about it but until then for the moms that lost the weight, any advice?

Cost of hiring a temporary nanny

Hello! First time mom here and I found out I’m going to need surgery that would require 6 weeks of recovery (and no lifting over 10 pounds). I’m a stay at home mom and I would need help caring for my 6 month old for those 6 weeks. What are some of the rates for hiring a short term nanny? What process have any fellow parents gone through when selecting a nanny?
