When are we going to acknowledge that it’s impossible when both parents work?

And it’s not like it’s a cakewalk when one of the parents is a SAHP either. Just had a message that nursery is closed for the rest of the week as all the staff are sick with covid. Just spent the last couple of hours scrabbling to find care for the kid because my husband and I work. Managed to find nobody so I have to cancel work tomorrow. At what point do we acknowledge that families no longer have a “village” to help look after the kids and this whole both parents need to work to survive deal is killing us and probably impacting on our next generation’s mental and physical health? Sorry about the rant. It just doesn’t seem doable. Like most of the time I’m struggling to keep all the balls in the air at once - work, kids, house, friends/family, health - I’m dropping multiple balls on a regular basis now just to survive.

Guy trip - leaving wife and baby home. Ok or no go? (Advise)

So I just had a daughter 10 months ago, in 3 months I have a 10 day “guy trip” planned with some old buddies. I have no idea where we are going until I get on the plane - probably far away. I just wanted to ask the other parents here. Is this socially acceptable? Would you be mad at your partner or totally cool with it? It a large group of friends and probably will be a stupid drinking classic type of trip for 10-11 days. Please let me know cause I need to discuss this with my wife 😂 Thanks!

What is this??

My baby was (and still is, in between discomfort) the happiest little man. For the last week or so he has been screaming/ crying in pain for short periods every day, and he is chewing on his hands like crazy, drooling like a waterfall. He suddenly has a bad latch and swallows a lot of air, which seems to be the reason for his crying as it seems like cramps/ stomach pain. Greenish/ slimy poops and lots of farts. He also sleeps so poorly during the day, a nap lasts for 20-30 minutes and he cries every time we try to help him to sleep. I’ve tried everything to soothe him and prevent all the gas (breastfeeding positions, breaks and burps, bottle feeding etc). All I hear is that this is “normal” and “will pass” but I can’t settle with my little man being so uncomfortable and it’s breaking my heart.. Any tips or reassurance?? Edit: he is 11 weeks old

How do I get my 5 yo to de-integrate “fucking” from his vocabulary?

My son is a vocabulary hound. He loves learning new words and integrates SAT-level vocab seamlessly. It’s cool and impressive. Except for when the word is “fucking”. He now swears fluently like a 40 year old man. He’s not using the word in a sexual context. We’re not reacting when he uses it, so he’s not using it for attention. It’s just a fucking useful word. I’ve tried explaining that the word is considered a grown up word and that he could get in trouble using the word in with others. He thinks that words are words…

What to send to friend after baby is born?

My best friend and I are due just a few days apart, but she will most likely be induced earlier due to medical reasons. I obviously won't be able to go and help her or bring her anything (if she would even want me to). I would like to send her something when her and her husband are home with the baby. Maybe some groceries? Things they don't have to prepare. Frozen dinners and snacks maybe? Anything to make postpartum easier for them! She's also vegetarian, so if any vegetarians have some suggestions, that would be awesome!

I did not ask for this!!!

Single life is just a barren landscape of damaged men in various stages of dealing with their shit. You know how I know being gay isn’t a choice? Because if I wasn’t so into dick, I’d pick women 100% of the time.

Chronic physical issues postpartum - no one warned me about this

My LO is almost one year old, and I’m still dealing with a host of physical issues that are not getting better. My SPD/PGP still flares up, I’ve developed a yet-unidentified skin disease, I’ve had constant back pain since her delivery, daily urinary leakage…. Is this seriously my life now? And is my body just terrible at pregnancy, or are women just suffering this in silence? No one I know IRL has (or at least has admitted to having) physical issues this far out. I hate living in pain and shame and feeling like my body is a failure. Why do I have so many issues when other moms can have 5, 6 or even more kids? I used to want 4 and now I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to have even a second. I’m in pelvic floor PT, I workout 5x a week, I stopped breastfeeding, I’m seeing every doctor I can trying to get answers. But is this just my new normal? Is this more common than I think?

Anyone who has tips on how to get rid of the linea nigra? Also known as the pregnancy stripe some get during pregnancy? I delivered 4 months ago and I’ve tried scrubbing it weekly, lotion it but nothing works 😭.

Need some urgent help

My spouse will not stop cursing at our 5 year old daughter. I.e “ Get your fucking ass down here and flush the fucking toilet.” Or telling her to “shut the fuck up” I really need help. I have asked her 100s of times to not cuss at the kids and she just has no regard or respect for my request. It always escalates into her calling me names and degrading me. Please someone, I have to do something.
