The outdoors is essential if we want to be our healthiest selves. Why? When we examine the physical, mental, and emotional health of our children, a cursory look at brain development tells us. #outdoorplay #mentalhealth #kids #childdevelopment https://t.co/gAjyq2Mh3B

Crippling mom guilt about continuing SSRIs during pregnancy

I’m on 2.5mg of lexapro and my doctor told me to stay on. I wanted to get off when I found out I was pregnant because I don’t feel it’s helping me anymore and the doctor said the withdrawals could be worse. So I stayed. Now I have immense guilt that I gave my kid autism or they will have some other health thing. I’m only 26 weeks pregnant but I can’t shake the guilt. It’s my first child as well. Ugh! I guess welcome to motherhood right?

Any advice for activities we can do to keep a 22-month-old with a foot cast busy?

Our highly active 22-month-old, buckle fractured a few bones in his foot. Nothing too serious, but doctors want a cast on it for 4-6 weeks so there are no long-term effects/pain. My question is, how do we keep him (and us) busy? We still take him to the park, he can go on the swings and I take him down the slide on my lap, but any other advice from parents with kids with broken bones? We limit screen time to just 10-15 min a day, so I don't really want to supplement with screen time, but I understand that we may have to. TIA.

Who leads the learning in your institution? Is it the teachers or students–or do both contribute equally to ensure the best possible conditions for learning? It's a fine balance. @timbuckteeth @TeachThought https://t.co/aouihNSsM9

Alternative to EWG for assessing product safety?

Hello folks. Can anyone recommend an alternative to EWG’s (Environmental Working Group) database and app for quickly assessing product safety without needing a chemistry degree? I can’t remember where or when I first learned about EWG, but it has been my go to for years. However, I’ve been seeing frequent critiques that it isn’t based on good science. Relatedly, if anyone has an efficient way to determine if toys and kid dishware are safe(r) besides relying on unregulated terms like “food safe”, “green”, “non-toxic”, etc., I’d love to hear it. I currently look at whether something meets EU toy safety standards because my understanding is that they have a stricter regulatory regime, but obviously that isn’t always possible. Thanks in advance for any input and discussion. If anyone has evidence of why I can continue to rely on EWG, please share that as well!
