What is the problem with kids jumping on the bed?

My mum always told us off for jumping on the bed but never explained why. Now my own son loves to jump on his bed, I feel like I'm supposed to discourage him but I have no idea why. Is it because its dangerous or is it bad for the bed/ mattress? Sorry if this is a stupid question

I did it, I found the best nanny.

This woman comes on time every day, she is never on her phone unless LO is napping, and during naps she plays with the dog, empties the dishwasher, and puts away all the toys. She's making healthy lunches, teaching her to wave, doing all the adorable baby-talk, etc. I think... I'm in love.

What $5-10k quality of life improvement can I make?

I’m looking for ideas. What would you spend 5-10000$ on if you were given it to spend on your kids? No vacations. I am being offered a pre death partial inheritance from my parents, who want us to enjoy some of that money while they’re still alive. They have suggested to use it to buy something our family could enjoy, or improve the house in a way that improves our day to day, or even something non sexy like a roof replacement. I am torn because while we could use that towards new kitchen cabinets, roof replacement, fence, or a grilling/fire pit patio, I do not envision us in this house 5-10 years from now. I don’t think we’d use a camper more than 2-3 times a year. I have two young girls who enjoy being outdoors

Babies are a scam

I have this theory that babies are actually a scam by the medical industry. My dear sweet precious 3 month old had been fighting my husband and I during feedings for a few days. He then began to tug at his ear which was looking inflamed. As soon as I noticed the ear tugging, I called his pediatrician and got him in the same day because I’ve had ear infections before; they are one of these most painful things I’ve felt. I have to rate the pain up there with the time I had a double kidney infection. We get to the pediatricians office and the doctor checks him out. Perfect. He’s in perfect condition; no ear infection, no teeth coming through, nothing. Turns out he simply discovered that he can grab his ears and that it is the FUNNEST thing he can do right now. So there goes yet another charge to his pediatrician because almost everything a baby does is either normal or means there’s something wrong. There’s no in between.

I’m so proud of my son!

My son is 2, almost 3, and we’ll, he’s autistic. There’s no easier way to put it. We’ve been working so hard with early intervention and today he kind of interacted with another kid his age!! She lives in the same complex and we ran into her outside! At first, he was ignoring her. Couldn’t care she existed. Probably didn’t even know she was there. Just some blur running past him. She was trying so badly to interact with him. Finally! He stops and she gives him a hug. He returns it by petting her face. She laughed so I’m counting it as a win!!

Introverted parenting - struggling here.

I'm a really introverted person, spending time around other people drains me. Before kids I could manage this fine, and just be selective about how I spent my energy, putting it into the things I'm passionate about. I was motivated, energetic, optimistic, and fun. Now with two kids, who I love more than anything else (other than my partner), I'm finding that the small amount of energy that my introverted mind has to give is being drained completely by daily life before I'm able to spend any energy on other things. I've become unmotivated, pessimistic and negative. Being this way makes me a worse parent and a worse partner. Is anyone in a similar position? Has anyone figured out some good strategies for introverted parenting?

Baby monitor battery …

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how poor baby monitor batteries are … If only they would last longer than 30-seconds after a 12-hour charge! It’s staggering that we have the ability to send ‘man’ to the moon, but incapable of powering this teeny-tiny piece of plastic!! Rant over …

do you do family meals or do you snack all day?

I have always preferred to eat small meals, often! So maybe 5 x small meals a day. I find I have way more energy throughout the day and feel much less lethargic/uncomfortably full. My toddler (and most toddlers it seems) also prefers to snack which I am okay with as this suits my lifestyle but everyone I come across says this is so bad, creates bad habits, he'll be a big, obese kid by the time he's 5 etc etc Our snacks are healthy 90% of the time. He eats really well, including fruits, veggies, pulses and carbs. He doesn't particularly like meat but that's fine. Just want to hear lots of opinions from anyone who also doesn't do the conventional 'three meals a day' type thing. Do you like it? Do you feel pressured to change?

Is it just me or is Peppa pig a snotty little brat?

Literally the title. I find her a smug little incorrigible brat who never faces consequences, idk if I'm just sick of kids' shows or if she really is 😂

My sister is getting married too soon for my selfish self

Not sure the flair fits, but c’est la vie. My little sister is engaged and set the wedding date for about 2.5 months from now. I’m super excited for her. But selfishly, I wish the wedding was farther away. I just had my second baby 15 weeks ago. I gained over 50 lbs during my pregnancy and I’m still like 25-30 lbs above my typical weight. And I’m exclusively breastfeeding. I’m not the kind of person that loses weight with breastfeeding. And I also can’t cut my calorie intake without risking my supply. So I know that I’m pretty much stuck at this size and shape until my baby is done nursing. And I’m so grateful for all that my body has done and is doing. But I’m not going to be looking my best at her wedding. And it will be immortalized in her photos. And I’m just not looking forward to that. It isn’t my wedding and it’s her day, not about me at all. Not to mention how lucky I am for all my body has provided. It’s just a selfish, vanity issue I’ll have to get over I suppose.

Combining pumped milk?

Hi! FTM, and just started collecting milk in a Haakaa while breastfeeding. I have a question for those of you who have experience in this department! Is it okay to combine milk from several sessions over one night or day? I’m currently storing them all separately, I wasn’t sure if it was an issue to combine warm milk from one feeding with milk that was refrigerated a few hours before. Thank you for your help!
