There’s YouTube, the lifesaver for teachers during the pandemic that continues to provide useful videos for students. Then there’s YouTube, the endless distraction that followed kids back into the classroom. @WSJ @juliejargon https://t.co/740hwYIGtb

husband called me fat this weekend

I have herniated disks and sciatica, rapid weight gain exacerbates that. I didnt gain anything while pregnant but PP gained about 30 lbs, its only been 7 months. I am in pain constantly and working, keeping house & taking care of baby. This weekend I threw a surprise party for my husband and spent all day cooking, lugging food to the location, cleaning and setting up all while taking care of the baby. I was extremely sore and in pain at the end of the day and he blew up on me for having 3 beers and a piece of cake at dinner, saying I don't watch what I eat or take care of myself, he can't look at me in pain, I'm not going to stop until I'm 300 lbs and in a wheelchair. I don't know where to go from here, I'm in physical therapy, I try to stay as active as I can while working 8hrs a day and watching the baby. There are only 24 hours in a day, I don't know why it is so much to ask for a little bit of empathy and support from someone who is supposed to love you.

SAHM Envy

How does anyone afford to be a SAHM? Seriously, it seems like a pipe dream to live off of 1 income and be able to 100% dedicate myself to the upbringing of my children. I envy those fortunate enough to be able to have the privilege of doing so. Not to say I don't love my career, but if I could realistically afford to be a SAHM, I would do it in a heartbeat. Balancing WFH + newborn childcare has been a balancing act that I'm still struggling with. I know things will "get easier" but right now... the struggle is real.

What’s the thing you hate most about being a mum to a toddler?

I am curiously to know what is the thing you hate/dread most about your day with your toddler? All we see online is the “perfect mum” I’ll start; I hate the mornings before my 18mo first nap. I’m tired and still need time to wake up, he gets bored and starts acting up- we usually just wing it until nap time. Then go out after lunch. What’s yours?

Why can’t single dads be alone for 5 minutes

It’s just a question and please correct me if I am wrong. I see so many miserable stepmothers with men who are riddled with guilt and were clearly not ready for a relationship getting into them. I also have a friend who is 40 never married never had kids by choice (because she doesn’t like kids) constantly being chased by single dads. Some are so down they go on the date ranting that they will never get married again because of what their wives did to them. Why not take time out, raise your kids enjoy your life why he so consumed with finding the next woman. I know I might get a lot of backlash because I know it’s everyone’s right to move on and be happy but why not do that when your head is in the right place and your kids are in a good place. Why do they need a woman and especially a childless woman? Any input would be appreciated even if it’s a single dad telling me I’m wrong that’s fine. It’s just an observation and I’m curious as to what other people think.

How do you guys maintain attraction to your lazy spouse

At least 80% of the posts here are about lazy partners. Are 80% of us not having sex? My SO and I aren’t having sex right now and its not bothering me as much as is should. I just feel like there is NOTHING sexy about busting your ass while your SO sits on the couch all day. Like - it’s not hot. Or am I nuts?

Do you recommend outside of window frame blackout curtains or inside the frame for kids?

I’m looking to get some blackout roller blinds for my toddlers room. Can’t decide if I should go inside the window and have slight slits on the sides that will let in a bit of light. Or put it on the outside of the window frame which will block out all light, but it won’t be as esthetic. Not sure how important those narrow slits are?

Daycare teacher gifts

My daughter is graduating to the next class at daycare at the end of the month, but I wanted people's opinion if it's appropriate to give the teachers a small thank you gift. I was thinking $25 cash for the two main teachers. At Christmas, I gave the two main teachers and the three people who circulate in and out of the class to help $50 each. Is it weird to give them a thank you gift upon her departure? And is it weird to exclude some of the assistants?

We're having rain. This is so fun to do - involving children is a blast. End it with having your breath follow the rhythm as you inhale. Then as you exhale. https://t.co/8nlGkkwcVl

Spring is here and with it: sidewalk chalk! We love that chalk can be used as the basis of many activities for your kids. Here are 8 active games you can play with a piece of chalk! https://t.co/JTwyALLAeU https://t.co/UDxY8SKogN

So heartbroken

My grade 1 daughter's best friend has recently left her for another girl. She's been telling me the two girls don't let her play with them. I asked her yesterday after she came back from school: who did you play with today in the recess? She responded: 'I just played with my shadow'. My heat broke.

We don't need to add to their stress or anxiety, but we do need to be honest with our teenagers about what is happening in the world. @witt_writes #news #currentaffairs https://t.co/oza2mjV7pr
