Please settle a dispute!!
My 12year old is getting braces put on today, will be in the back for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. My plan was to run some errands during this time. My wife told me I was crazy and leaving her was akin to child abuse or neglect! Surely she is going overboard right?

The American Healthcare system can suck my ass
I love that I have to make multiple phone calls and fight with my insurance company and cry on the phone with strangers to get my 25 week micropreme who died at 5 days old covered on my insurance. Because these evil fucks would rather hope I don't have the mental strength to do it so they don't have to cover her 60k nicu bill rather than just make shit easy on a grieving mother.

My son betrayed me… unsure how to proceed
My wife took our daughter to basketball and I was at home with my sons, 9 and 1… Now 1 year old is walking and eager to explore everywhere, so I was doing what dads do, which is encourage him to roll in mud and have fun while planing enough time to have a quick bath prior to the ladies return. 20 mins to go and I take youngest to bath and now inside, 9 starts whining so I give in and let him watch a “100 days Minecraft” on YouTube. Mommy returns and all good, boys are eating, dinner is ready for the ladies and all is well, perfect evening… until the next week when I take daughter and my son claims I let him watch YouTube so Monmouth should do the same. I feel totally betrayed. Can’t we keep some small secrets?!? Edit: I should add that this is mostly in jest. My wife and I sometimes just let the kids watch YouTube when everything else is going on. Was just a funny story.

Potty training help!
My(29f) almost 4 year old daughter refuses to potty train and I don't know what to do about it. She knows exactly what it is and how/why she needs to do it, but she just absolutely won't do it. We got her one of those potty training watches, a potty chart with a ton of prizes. We have a little seat that goes on top of the toilet and we even got a tiny pink potty just for her if she was intimidated by the size of a regular toilet. She's just not interested in any of it. We've tried every method we've read on all sorts of parenting sites/blogs and nothing has worked. She doesn't have any disabilities or impairments or anything. She's actually advanced in every other area of development. She can read a lot of short sight words, write her name and mommy/daddy, and add small numbers. But she straight up refuses to use the damn toilet. She should be starting preschool, but only if she's fully potty trained. I don't know how to do it, though. Help me reddit!

What are some “I’ll never….” expectations with older kids?”
You know, all the things you say you’ll never do or things your kids will never do. I have toddlers so I now know that my expectations for young kids are laughable pieces of garbage. Things like: my kids will never watch too much tv, they’ll never eat only a rotation of mac and cheese & chicken nuggets, I will never raise my voice above a gentle encouragement, etc. For those with older kids, what are similar expectations you had for them that you now realize are unrealistic?
