I just paid off my student loans.

I'm sitting here ugly crying, and I didn't have anyone else to tell. Yall, I'm old. I graduated in 2002, with about 40k in loans. It snowballed, as it does, when you can only afford minimum payments to over 80k. It took me having a managerial level tech job to even begin to make progress on paying it off. I wasn't eligible for any of the payment freezes because I was part of the FFELP subset of people who didn't get that option. But anyway. It's paid off. I don't know if I should celebrate or keep crying.

Autism diagnoses in Asian and Pacific Islander, Latinx, and Black children are increasing at the fastest rate. Does that mean access to resources and diagnosis has improved? Maybe not. https://t.co/BqSaVGims1

Isn't it rude to ask what's wrong with my baby's face?

My baby has a small hemangioma on his cheek. Every where we go, cashier's, waiters, etc always ask what happened to his face. Other times people ask if the baby fell, or one time asked if it was a tumor. I understand it's human nature to be curious but if it *was* something like a tumor or a result of an accident then why would you ask and remind me of whatever unfortunate thing it is?? Finally today, I snapped, the pharmacist asked to which I responded, "Isn't it kinda rude to ask that? I don't ask you what's wrong with your face."

Our baby monitor crapped out MOTN without us knowing while LO is sick. Taking brand recommendations pls.

Pretty much the title. Talk about bad timing for this to happen since our LO is incredibly sick and teething right now. We are using one of the Vtech monitors with wifi capability for convenience but this is the third time our actual monitor has decided to not connect/not give noise notifications/turn off in general. It’s less then 8 months old. I’m incredibly frustrated as the monitor wasn’t cheap. Any recommendations? Looking for one with wifi/phone capability again. I don’t trust my google searches as most of the ones coming up as recommended seem sponsored.

Wife is admitted, I'm taking care of our week-old son. Anything I should know about?

Hey, my wife has pre-eclampsia and I'm taking care of our son for at least until tomorrow morning by myself until the parental cavalry arrives. My in-laws offered any help needed, but I honestly can't think of anything - I'm feeling weirdly calm about being by myself with our little sack of fluid expulsion, but I can't shake that I'm missing something that I *should* be worrying about... I make sure he's on his back when he's in the crib/bassinet and never on the changing table, I'm sticking to a 2-3 hr feeding and changing schedule, and I got the first uninterrupted 5 hours of sleep last night (until my wife felt off) so I should be somewhat frosty through the night. Anything I should know from single parents or anyone in the situation? Thank you!

Baby shower gifts for my SIL and her wife

I've finally finished putting together our gift for my sister-in-law and her wife's baby shower, featuring lots of (imperfect but full of love) sewing projects, and a gift basket of the things I've found truly essential in my first 18 months of being a parent (yes, Frida baby has me in a chokehold, lol) 💕

Anyone else’s Spotify ruined by baby music?

I use my Spotify account on the TV to play Raffi music (my baby loves him) and I’ve done it so much that my discover playlists have random baby songs in them constantly (sometimes more than half the playlist). Don’t get me wrong, I’d do anything for her but I would like my discover playlists to be back to how they were lol

The Universe is working against naptime

Got baby girl down for her second nap and shit like this happens on a super regular basis, but here's today's tale of woe. Sometimes it's Jehovas Witnesses, sometimes it's Amazon, occasionally it's the neighbor kids deciding it's the best time ever to run 4-wheelers up and down the street. But no, not today. Today it was just mother nature and my stupid self. Put baby down and not two minutes later, loud storm starts. 20 minutes in, the *very last* crack of thunder woke her up, and it's been silent since. Alright, so I'll try to get her back down. About 15 minutes later, I'm putting her down in her crib and she's ready to go back to sleep Thank God. I'm backing out of the room and, *of course*, I back directly into her walker that was, for probably the first time ever, in her room. Scared her back awake and this time there was zero chance of getting her back to sleep. So now she's awake, watching Miss Rachel. If anyone needs me I'll be burning the walker and shooting at clouds.

How many more outfits must be thrown away?!

This might me tmi but a sister needs help. So my baby has a problem with blow outs. It’s nearly time. It’s goes all the way up her front, like bellybutton front! It never seems to go to the back part of the diaper so I’m worried about UTI or the sorts. When she starting making that red faced look I try holding her up right in the poop position but still seems to go forward. Since my baby is breastfed and she only poops every few days (up to 4/5). Her pediatrician warned us that this might happen and she would only be concerned if it was over a week and firm. Anyhow, I think the problem is in part due to just the amount. The other part I think might be the diapers. I usually use Pampers and Huggies Swaddlers. Both size 1 (but it happened with new born size too). She’s 3.5 months and still weighs within the suggestion for size ones. I’m sad throwing clothes away because I’ve tried washing them, but the soiled stains don’t seem to get out. Anyone else? Got suggestions?
