Recent Request from my MIL…

I’ve posted this question in my bumpers group but would also like to get perspectives from parents with kids of different ages. Would you feel comfortable with your MIL or another close family member taking your baby/toddler on an out of state weekend road trip? My MIL wants to take my daughter to visit her sister in NC for a weekend, 5 hours away. I’m uncomfortable with her being so far away from us at this age (15 months) but my fiancé thinks that because it’s just for a weekend and she’s visiting family that it’s okay, and most other people would be fine with it as well.

Saying “I forgot” is a good enough reason. It has to be. We single moms already beat ourselves up enough as it is. #parenting https://t.co/rD46wXcVLG

Teens home alone for a month.. OK or not?

We're in England.. My sister-in-law has just booked a month long holiday to Europe with her boyfriend, they are leaving next week. She is leaving her 16 and 18 y/o daughters at home to fend for themselves and look after the family pets. Neither of the daughters are happy about it (there have been tears) as it is near exam season for them and they are worried about the effect the added stress will have on them. This doesn't sit right with me and I feel bad for the girls. Does anyone know if there is any wrongdoing in the eyes of the law here?

Toddlers test, and that’s exactly what they are supposed to do. A toddler has failed if he makes life too easy for us. -Lynn Jessen, #parenting

To the person who keeps reporting every post about Covid jabs/masks for kids:

You know who you are, and I also know who you are. I WILL BAN YOU. Don't think for one second you're safe or special. Stop annoying the shit out of me with these unnecessary reports or you're gone. People casually discussing this topic does not constitute misinformation in any universe.

5 week old girl has not pooped in 3 days?? Ped office is closed till monday! need advice!

Our little girl has not pooped since thursday early morning. Before that she went 2 days without pooping. Normally she poops atleast once a day but the past week she has been having issues. I can tell shes straining and shes extra fussy because of it. Im reading online if she hasnt by day 4-5 to take her to a doctor. Her ped office is closed on the weekend, I wont be able to call them till monday and that will be the 5th day. We have tried bicycle leg movements, sitting her up in her bouncy chair that vibrates (normally makes her poop) Gave her a good warm bath last night and still nothing. Should we take her to the ER tomorrow if she hasnt pooped still? Anyone with experience have some advice on what we can try?

Am I being sensitive??

When my 4 month baby starts crying or making fussing noises, my MIL likes to scream with the baby. She screams as loud as the baby screams. (She has been doing this since he was born) I think she thinks that screaming like the baby is going to make him stop screaming?? He does stop crying for like a second cause he is probably in shock but then he continues to cry louder and harder. It really annoys me when she does like cause I feel the baby does not like it. It actually gets me really mad. I mean who likes having someone scream in their face. No one seem to have a problem with it except me. The SIL thinks it's funny and my bf just continues letting their mom scream with the baby. It frustrates me to the point where I just take the baby out of their hands and bring my baby away from the MIL. Sad to say, but because of this, plus other reasons, I don't like bringing the baby around her, even though we live together. Am I being too sensitive?

Instagram mom culture is that if you’re not the absolute best, then you’re the worst.

That is all.

just a quick shout out to my partner

I love that you cut our son's hair since he is scared of the barber. But I REALLY love that to satisfy our 3 year old's desire to do everything her brother does, you sit her down and pretend to cut her hair for 15 minutes. Like literally putting her on the stool and doing all the motions, but just snipping the air. For 15 minutes. Top notch, A plus, makes my heart fuzzy.

Anyone else's spouse say hurtful things during the newborn stage?

I'm on twin duty overnight and still smarting over what she said. Don't know if I'll get over it. I know we're both stretched thin, but I don't understand why that needs to lead to personal attacks?

What do I do about 1 year old tantrums?

My 1 year old cries and tantrums all. The. Time. It’s exhausting and I don’t know what to do. She will get immediately hysterical if anything doesn’t go exactly her way. She already prefers her Dad over me, so I feel like I have to do everything she wants so she likes me. But there are times where I just can’t and I don’t know what to do. I try to name the feeling and validate that it’s okay to have big feelings and be upset but of course she’s so young that nothing really calms her. For example, right now her Dad is making dinner and she won’t stop crying because she wants him to hold her. Should we just ignore it? This was the pediatrician’s recommendation but I absolutely hate letting her cry and I’m afraid it will make her like me even less.
