Is the newborn stage always THAT bad?

I’m due in 6 weeks. I came across this subreddit when looking for advice on baby products. Now all I seem to see are posts about how awful the newborn stage is and how many moms say they regret their babies (at first). I’m sure it’s comforting for moms to know that they aren’t the only ones struggling and maybe in a couple months I’ll be appreciating that too Right now it’s just giving me a lot of anxiety. Maybe it’s all I see because the algorithm hates me? I know it’s not going to be easy at first but is there anybody who didn’t have a terrible time with their newborn?

Am I the only one who felt no guilt for EFF?

My baby had trouble latching so I pumped for the first few days but found that the lack of sleep due to pumping was too detrimental to my mental health so I turned to formula. I felt literally no guilt. Am I the only one??

“Well, you are lazy in most ways”

I’m not new here, I’ve made posts about my partner before but I always get scared he’ll find them and I wind up deleting them. Was talking to him today and got my usual telling off about the house not being clean enough. I tell him that I’m doing as much as I can, I work about 50 hours a week, then come home and look after my son mostly by myself, as well as keeping track of bills, food shopping, making sure everyone is looked after etc. He then tells me to my face that “I’m not saying you don’t do stuff, but you’re lazy in most ways”. And why am I lazy, I hear you ask? I didn’t clean the windowsills. The goddamn windowsills.

A switch from subtractive to additive grading might encourage problem solving and create an atmosphere where failure is okay, and students can repeatedly attempt a task until they are satisfied with the number of points earned. @TeachThought https://t.co/fUYu9anw6n

No contact nap

Today we started transitioning to no contact naps and I was bracing myself for the tears. Turns out LO doesn’t need me and can nap by herself. There were still tears, but the tears were mine 😂😭

finally I can poop unbothered

I put my son in daycare part time even tho I don’t really have a job and it’s done wonders for my mental health. My room finally isn’t a disaster all laundry is done, I took my time at the gym, cleaned my bathroom… and I pooped without rushing it cuz he’s crying. Watched a couple TikTok’s while I pooped. Worth the $265

I can’t wait til my kid goes to school.

I’ve been a stay at home mom of 1 for 4.5 years. My kid starts kindergarten in 2023. I can’t fucking wait. I’m so burnt out that I can’t even describe it. I know this age only happens once but I can’t wait for my kid to grow up. Maybe I’ll regret it one day but I’m just in complete survival mode all day every day. I want to be able to take care of myself again. I think I’ll actually be able to enjoy being a parent once they go to school. I’m counting down the days. I know this is horrible. But the thought of them being at school most of the day literally brings tears of joy to my eyes. They’re a good kid. Just a typical toddler. But I don’t even know who I am anymore. Please grow up a little bit and need me a bit less. Please.

Is paracetamol during labour some kind of sick joke?

I cant stop thinking about this and it’s been half a year since I was in labour. I always think about being told to have paracetamol/being given paracetamol when first admitted was some kind of sick joke. The amount of pain I was in, paracetamol could barely touch 😂 Did it help anyone?!?!

Amazing article that sums up why so many more children are struggling in school and are dealing with more and more mental health issues at younger ages! https://t.co/GMaEkyj51i #earlyyears #braindevelopment

22 year old single dad: Need advice!

Hey guys, I would advise you read my first few posts to get a background story of my situation, and how I got sole custody of my infant son! So basically, I live alone in my apartment with my son, it's literally just me and him.. He's almost a month and a half, and so far so good! I have a little bit of an issue, my sons' birth moms' mom, so technically his "grandmother" but she shouldn't have that title messaged me on FB a couple days ago, and I haven't responded yet.. She wants to meet my son, and I don't like the idea at all, i'd rather her not be in our lives! We never really had problems with eachother, but, I just don't find it appropriate.. Will it be morally wrong of me to say no to her wanting to meet him? TIA!!

Closer to family or live in a place you like?

Been trying to post this in “ask parents” but it’s not working so I’ll try it here! These are not necessarily mutually exclusive but I’m curious… As a parent of young kids, would you choose to live in a place that you like: has great access to the things you want to do, has some friends/ social network, and generally a good place overall to raise kids (good schools, economic opportunity, etc.) but is extremely far away from your entire family OR would you live near your own parents, siblings and relatives even if I meant starting over somewhere new and unfamiliar?

Pootastrophe blow out stains

What are your best tips/tricks for treating the lovely yellow poo blowouts from our little dudes onsies? We get them under cold water with a little soap as quick as possible, but that doesn’t seem to do the trick.

Toddler resisting my potty training attempts.

My toddler is two years old and I (mom) planned to get him potty trained. I bought all the gear and I started - i put an underwear and he peed in it and that is it - all hell broke. Now he does not want to wear an underwear and does not want to sit on a potty. He runs and brings a diaper and demands to put it on him. I don’t want to push him but I also don’t know how long until I try again. Please advise.

Why are used nugget couches more expensive?

So I am looking into saving some money while also buying the nugget couch for my two toddlers. Why are ebay and fb marketplace ones more expensive than the website? Website lists them at $229-259; used ones are 300! Why? What am I missing?
