Art therapy uses drawing, painting and other art-based practices “as a way to connect, and to develop a therapeutic relationship." Not only does it allow students to express emotions, it provides behavioral support and stress management. @hechingerreport https://t.co/5YlrZMcZuO

I feel stupid for asking, but how many bananas would you let your 18mo eat?

She's absolutely obsessed, it's the first thing she thinks of when she opens her eyes. Nana nana nana. It's all I hear all day long. Right now we're just doing 1 a day because I don't want to deal with a constipated, already cranky toddler.

Any tips for a 12-hour drive with 18 months old toddler?

When our toddler is strapped in too long she gets very bored and starts screaming. We are planning to bring a good amount of toys, snacks, and stop maybe every two hours to stretch our legs. Any other good tips for helping her survive the long drive?

Baby keeps falling and hitting head

So my 11 month old is cruising on furniture and practicing standing on his own (like most other lil ones his age). But he keeps letting go of what he’s holding onto/losing his balance/mis-stepping/etc. and falling backwards, hitting his head. A lot. Like, this is sometimes a multiple-times-a-day thing. It’s a good day if he doesn’t hit his head at all. His head is in the 99th percentile, so he’s just extra top-heavy. Even when he falls onto his butt, the momentum takes him further backward, resulting in him still hitting his head. Other than the immediate crying, he acts totally fine after about 5 minutes (no sleepiness, extra fussiness, or anything). But is this normal, or should I be concerned that he’s hitting his head so much?

Does anyone else feel like they spend their entire life telling their toddler no?

All my kid (13mo) does is get into things. I try to let her run around and experiment and investigate things, but she's curious and a climber and I feel like this monster who just follows her around saying no all the time. It's so draining. I feel like I'm being mean and strict but I'm just trying to keep her from climbing on the back of the couch or eat the cat.

Raising a child in a bilingual home.

Hello! My Daughter is currently 17 months, I'm from England, and my wife's from Quebec, so both French and English are spoken in our house. When we talk to each other it's in English, when talking to our daughter it's mostly in french and sometimes in English (as we live in Quebec and she'll be going to a French school). We're not too worried about her learning the languages she says a few words and understands quite a lot when we speak. I know all kids develop differently and there isn't one rule for everybody but I was just wondering if anybody who has raised a child in a similar situation (Talking two languages in the house at the same time) and how their child's language skills developed?

UK primary school hours

Quick poll for UK redditors: what are your school hours now post lockdown? I have Yr 2 & 5 kids in same school and they are not going back to normal traditional school hours, ever. Currently it’s 8.50am to 2.50pm and has been since reopening, in September will go to 3.00pm, but never back to the previous 3.30. To me, that means 2.5 hours a week less learning next year not to mention all they have lost this year and currently 4+ hours less a week. What’s everyone else’s schools doing in UK?

Trouble sleeping at daycare. And over discipline issues. 2yo

Today I got a message from daycare that my daughter is refusing to stay on he cot and runs around to wake other children up. She screams and even lays on top of other children. She is very strong willed and hard to discipline. For example at bath time you can tell her not to splash and say NO when she does until you are blue in the face and she ignores you. She fights diaper changes, clothes changes, medicine , bedtime, eating and I can't seem to get a handle on her. I refuse to spank my child, but I have tried time out, bribing, redirection, and obviously strongly worded NOs but it seems she does not care about any consequences of not listening. Please help.
