Humans have a habit of thinking in a linear fashion. But what if classroom curricula was thought of in a non-linear fashion? @stewarthase @TeachThought https://t.co/AVQyzAu5MP

Gentle parenting getting me trampled over
Hi. I’m livid, nice to meet you. I’m here today because I’ve been reading the whole brain child, wholesome parenting, gentle parenting, following all of these perfect parents on TikTok. However there’s one thing they forgot to cover. WTF to do when your SIX year old decides he’s going to walk over to side of his bed-during BROAD DAYLIGHT- and piss on his bed/floor because he didn’t want to step away from the videos he was watching on YouTube. Again, I’m livid. Very nice to meet you. Wtf do I do? I’ve heard of the “don’t yell.” the “don’t take away the tablet.” Which I’ve already done by the way so I guess I’m already failing. I started off very calmly though (points???yayy??)I currently have him sitting in my room in total silence thinking of a good explanation to give me as to why going to the bathroom was not an option. This isn’t covered in the perfect parenting pamphlet.

While our understanding of nutrition and psychology has improved, the world we inhabit is more image-conscious than ever, leaving parents to battle negative body image for themselves and their kids. @changcon @washingtonpost https://t.co/TSoLowhzym

Does anyone else’s parents have survivor bias?
I just had to explain to my mother over FaceTime why it’s safer it rearface for as long as possible. Even letting her know their bones don’t completely ossify until about 4 or 5 years. She thinks that my son will get uncomfortable. 🤦🏻♀️ But no. She has to go rubbing in that she had me in a booster seat up front with her in her suburban & I “did just fine”. Ok so what about the other kids who weren’t fine & became physically disabled in a crash or worse… killed? Do they not matter? Edit: Tried to post this in r/BabyBumps & the auto mod thinks I’m talking about COVID…. 😑😑😑

I don't know how much more I can take.
I am a Texas Elementary School teacher as well as being a Texas mom. Way too much of my identity has always been wrapped up in being Texan. When we first got married I made it very clear that I would not be willing to leave Texas because I had tried it before and the culture shock was unpleasant. But today multiple people were arrested for making threats in my district, after Tuesday's event. I lost it in front of the kids today and couldn't stop crying and I just want to go to sleep and wake up in a different timeline. I don't know if I can do this anymore. I also don't know where we could go because we certainly don't have a bunch of money to immigrate to another country. But I don't know how I am going to keep showing up for my kids everyday and not have a mental breakdown.
