Clothing Sizes
So, this is just a vent using the anonymity of reddit because I don't want to seem entitled or ungrateful. When people ask you what size your kids need (clothes), I really wish they would listen. My daughter turned 2 yesterday and of course, everyone asked about her clothing size. My kids have enough toys to stock an entire toys r us, so clothes are the preferred gift. Well, I said 24 months or 2T. My husband's aunt thought those looked awfully big so she bought 18 months instead. 18 months fit, but only just. Which means, she'll outgrow them in a month. I prefer to get new clothes slightly big to give them room to grow and get your money's worth. Aunt saved the receipt so we can exchange them. She got her several outfits, which is great and I really do appreciate it, but I just wish people would believe me when I answer their questions.

As a new parent, Amazon is simultaneously by best friend and my worst enemy
The novelty of buying things and having them delivered right to your door is too tantalizing to refuse when you’re basically housebound with a newborn. On the other hand, not making an income while giving money to a corporate billionaire is not what I would have preferred 😆

And yet I somehow still haven’t lost the baby weight
Went to brunch today and we got a table outside. Naturally as soon as the food arrived my 5 month old started crying so I got up to walk up and down the sidewalk with her while everyone else ate. When she settled down I sat back down at the table and had a few bites of food before my 4 year old had to go to the bathroom. Got up to take her and returned to an empty table because MY HUSBAND HAD LET THEM TAKE MY FUCKING PLATE AWAY. If I murder him will a jury convict me?

The baby fell asleep within 10 minutes!
...and then I gently lowered her into the cot, and she started screaming so hard that when I picked her up she exorcist-puked everywhere, and I had to change my clothes, her clothes and all the bedding before trying again and here we are an hour later and I'm rocking her to sleep again while she nods and says "yes" over and over to spur me on.

My MIL thinks I shouldn't let my sick toddler stop me from going about my day and errands. Is this a common attitude?
My toddler has a fever (her first) and my MIL was a bit annoyed (?) with me when I mentioned I was cancelling some social playdate plans I have for the day because of it. In her opinion, if my toddler can function then I shouldn't let that "stop my life" and should go about my day as usual, because toddlers are always sick. But like...that would mean my toddler's germs spread. Why would I purposefully expose other kids to germs? Am I alone in thinking this is totally reprehensible? Are we not still in a pandemic?

Pre-crawling sure is something 😆
Little man is starting to make crawling hips, trying to rock forward on his knees. Knowing what he's doing doesn't make it look less like he's humping the playmat though 😅😆

Do you strap your baby in while they’re in the stroller?
I’ve seen so many people lately not have their baby strapped while out walking, or at the mall etc. I always strap my daughter in, she’s 3 months, not able to flip out yet.. but still. Just wondering if it is normal to always have baby strapped in, I know it’s safer.. but like if I were to have her unstrapped is that still okay? I’m thinking now with the crazy heat the straps probably make her uncomfortable and more sweaty/prone to rash. Thx!!

Afraid of being judged over daycare decision
I have two kids, ages 10 years and 3 months (pretty big age gap, I know!) Well, my youngest is going to be 14 weeks this Thursday. I am a SAHM, for context. How judged will I be if I send my youngest to daycare for a few (four) hours, 3 days a week and not my oldest? Obviously, my 10 yo doesn't need as much attention as a 3 month old. I'll be able to get stuff done around the house or have a moment to breathe. I'm doing it for my own sanity, so in the long-run, I guess it doesn't matter what others think. Just wondering what others may have to say. Thanks!

Alcohol and children
A controversial topic but what’s your thoughts? Is a glass of wine safe to drink while caring for a 4 month old? Me and my partner have different views on this.

My 16 mo fell asleep in the car 8 minutes before we got to the mall. Would you wake or leave asleep and sit in the car?
Help moms!! What would you do? I’m very frustrated because I just had a couple of returns and thought it would be a good way to spend a rainy day for us to go walk around. I have a lot to do today. However unexpectedly she fell asleep on the 20 minute drive. I just pulled into the mall parking lot and she’s been asleep for 8 minutes. Would you wake her up and put in the stroller and quickly do your returns (2 stores, far ends of the mall)? Or would you just sit in your car doing nothing for (probably) an hour just waiting till she wakes up? Halp.

I just need to whine at the injustice of it
I work late. Like, past midnight late. And when everyone is asleep in the house, wouldn't that be a great time to go out and get some fresh air, go for a run, even? I often have energy I want to burn after work. And I see people jogging and walking at night, or skateboarding, totally content and not a care in the world as I drive past on my way home. They're all men. You'll never see a woman taking a midnight walk or just getting some exercise now that it's almost warm enough to do it. And I don't need to say why- we all know why. Men are so privileged. I wish I felt safe enough to just take a midnight run with nobody bothering me. That would be so nice. It sucks how the world is.

Easy Meal/Food Ideas for few weeks at home with a newborn.
Hey everyone! I'm expecting my first baby within the month (!!) and would love your thoughts on easy/quick meals as we adjust to having a newborn at home. Of note: \-Husband and I don't really love the "one pot crockpot meal" kind of deal that you make ahead of time, freeze, and dump in a crock pot. Maybe occasionally. \-I'm trying to be realistic about my time and energy in the beginning, but generally enjoy cooking and might even welcome a little bit of food "putting together." \-Don't have a ton of freezer space. \-Generally like to eat on the healthier side What are some things that worked well for your family in those early days? Thanks for your input

What age did you have to start hiding unhealthy snacks from kids?
Hello there, was wondering at what age did you all start hiding eating unhealthy snacks from your kids? For example, my husband loves hot Cheetos/spicy chips and which I DEFINITELY won’t be giving to my 7MO. I know after a certain age parents often hide eating u healthy snacks from their kids so they don’t watch them eat it and be tempted. What age did that happen for you?

baby always spitting up
my son is 4 months old. He throws up almost everytime he eats. The doctor said he was a "happy spitter" because he is still gaining weight. he is about 13 lbs right now. Is this normal? sometimes I wonder if he is getting food at all! he is breast fed exclusively
