In life, students won’t always have a teacher to grade their work or provide them with necessary feedback. This is why we need self-assessment and peer assessment. @spencerideas https://t.co/5uxwx49gLk

I don't think I'm cut out to be a SAHM.
Don't get me wrong. I love my kids. I'm just a very low energy anxiety/depression riddled person. It's exhausting trying to stay happy and cheery all the time and answering constant questions. I really lack patience and I'm trying really hard not to be like my parents. I just don't think I'm doing my kids any favors. I know I'm burnt out and in a huge rut but other parents make it look a lot easier. Should I just drink more coffee? Lol Sorry just a little rant. Thanks for reading.

spent over an hour trying to claim fraud, turns out my husband is just a liar
We have been getting doordash charges that are not ours for months (or so I thought) they sent us 2 new sets of debit cards and the issue still persists. I'm on the phone with doordash today give them all of mine and my husband's info, turns out he has his own doordash account and has been sneaking food and lying about it. Over $500 worth in the past 3 months. MF let me go back and forth with the bank all this time to try and cover up that he's cheating on his diet.

Religion in school
Our child goes to what we thought was an amazing Montessori school preschool+kindergarten in our area, and has for the whole school year. Recently he has come home talking about God and Jesus and mentioned his teacher reading about them in a book. My spouse and I were both shocked and angered, but thought maybe it was because they just taught them the pledge of allegiance (also not the biggest fan of this.) Talking with some of the parents today at a playdate and one mentioned their child also now all of a sudden talking about God and another confirmed their child has been also. I don't think this is appropriate context for preschoolers especially in what we thought was a more secular school. How do we bring this up to the school? Has anyone experienced this before? For context it's a really small school in NY so I never expected to have to discuss separation of religion and schooling.

Does this movie have "insert bad scene"?
Hey all, you know how movie/tv ratings sometimes say no you can't take your 7 year old to see Spiderman... well I beg to differ - all kids are different and so is their maturity level. As a movie fanatic, I have looong lists for my kid to see in her future, but sometimes I forget if it's fully appropriate or not. I just wanted to let all the parents in here know my fav website for figuring out if a movie is appropriate without having to watch it pre-kid watch. Doesthedogdie.com. I'm not tryna spam or spon, I just think this a super useful tool for all parents! That said, we're going to watch The Day After Tomorrow lol.

Sprinting is a is a fundamental skill that supports so many other activities. If your child knows how to sprint properly, they're more likely to enjoy more activities that emphasize running! "Two Phase Orthodontics" - get a second opinion before putting braces on your 7yo!
Our dentist recommended we see an orthodontist for my 7yo's teeth. So we did, and they recommended an expander + braces, for 8-12 months of pain and restricted eating. Because this is just the first of two phases, she'd *still* need braces again as a teenager. Fortunately, we were quickly and easily able to get a second and then a third opinion on this before any work was done. Both the other orthodontists who looked at her x-rays said that although it wouldn't kill her to have more space in the roof of her mouth, we shouldn't pull the trigger yet, let things continue progressing naturally, and come back in 6 months to a year. Apparently, there's a whole movement to make kids miserable in order to make extra bank as an orthodontist.

I just spent hours trying to find a way out of the US
And I don’t think I can do it. Neither of us have in demand jobs. I was hopeful about Germany because I used to have citizenship after being born there but it looks like that’s a dead end too. I just want out of this gun loving country, dammit.

Homeschool Program Referrals
While this isn't directly related to any school shooter incidents that have been popping up I am becoming more inclined to look into homeschooling programs for my kids. I am also not a fan of how the current school system is set up and how/what they teach our children. The only benefit I see to traditional schooling is as a babysitter. Books and Online would be nice. Requirements: Easy to modify, full kit, and Secular. Are their any Bromos that homeschool with something like this?

Is religion healthy for children?
I grew up agnostic but my aunts and grandparents on my fathers side were Mormon. I would go to church with them sometimes and loved the Mormon community. They had wonderful activities to teach kids morals but also allow them to think for themselves, tons of services you could take part in to help your community and were such a supportive group of people. However, I don’t necessarily agree with their ideas of god and wouldn’t want to push a certain philosophy on to my child. I didn’t grow up in the church it was just an occasional things for me so I don’t know if it’d be healthy for my child to be exposed to such things at such a young age but would also like her to be a part of a community like that. What do you think would be a good way to approach this?

I used to lack empathy
Before I became a mom I lacked empathy, emotion, affection. I didn’t want to cuddle, I didn’t want to hold hands, I didn’t feel bad that you were crying, I didn’t feel sad when things weren’t going good. I felt anger. I felt frustrated. I felt jealous. I felt selfish. When I gave birth I was excited to “get this thing out”. I was excited to “have my life back”. I couldn’t wait to “feel normal again”. Now as I lay here with this sweet innocence on my chest after crying out for this moment I realize this is what she needs. Love, affection, attention, a shoulder to lean on, a chest to rest on, a neck to burrow. So I will lay here with an empty stomach and tired eyes and learn what it means to be a mother.
