Three year old informed me she bumped her ass
My three year old just fell on her bottom and then came to me and said “I just fell and bumped my little ass.” I said, “your WHAT?” Trying to hold back laughter, and corrected her, telling her she bumped her *bottom*. The things kids pick up on!

An online experiment suggests that displaying some types of academic information, and withholding others, might influence parents to make different decisions about where to live and send their kids to school. @hechingerreport @jillbarshay https://t.co/4QEx2dSYh3

Diaper check
Kids say/do the damnedest things. Yesterday my husband farted while playing with our toddler. The toddler then pulled back my hubs’ pants to see if he “pooped his diaper”. I have yet to stop laughing. Hope this makes some of you laugh too!

Summertime is a tricky balance between what your children 'should do' and 'being carefree'. Perhaps this will help that balance? https://t.co/zsfTF5EXTK

My MIL gets on my damn nerves.
She never shuts the fuck up. Always breathing down my neck about how much my 17 month old eats. “You need to feed him more because he sleeps through the night” My baby sleeps through the night ???? Since when! Because at 11pm 2am and 4am my baby is awake and sure is asking for snacks/milk/water. And I promise I feed him all day breakfast lunch and dinner You need to feed him jello for his bones and you need to put potatoes in his socks and a red bracelet for sleep. She doesn’t even say hi to me , the first word out her mouth is did he eat today? Like of course not I starve my child. That’s why he’s thriving and hitting all his milestones. I’m rambling but I’m pregnant and hormonal and I swear one of these days I’m going to hurt her feelings.

My maid is coming!
Y’all. My husband moved out three weeks ago and since then it’s just been me, 2 kids, my job, and some questionable coping mechanisms. As a result, my house is gross and instead of feeling overwhelmed, I just said fuck it and outsourced. Found a nice single mom on task rabbit willing to tackle the beast, and she is on her way now. Before husband moved out, I would have felt too anxious about $$ and too guilty like I should be able to do it all. But fuck that noise. I am so stoked to come home to clean floors that I don’t have to mop myself.

Rather than catching a tube, bus or tram, if you're lucky enough to be able to cycle to your job, an electric bike can really help you go the distance. https://t.co/oeav0EzHRi

Those who posted here years ago: I regret having kids/ I don't like being a parent, etc.
How long has it been and how are you now? I often wonder how parents feel years out after making those types of posts here. Are you one of them? Care to share?

Husband got a new job offer... need help deciding if he should take it...
So my husband just got offered a job with usps, it’s a “pce and sales distribution- full time” position. It’s 19$/hr.... so that’s amazing .... BUT I am seriously worried about potentially crazy hours. Currently he works 32 hours a week and some weeks gets three days off. The pay would be significantly better but it evens out right now with benefits (if you don’t agree with food stamps please do not comment,) I really want to get off of government assistance BUT I am worried about the long potential hours.. we have three kids six and under and I homeschool, we have 0 help from anyone with the kids other than us... His current job is at a natural foods store, no options for advancing ever, but we get a ton of free food which is awesome, plus he likes his co workers and is valued. It’s scary to make a big change and we only have three days to decide! Anyone have a partner who did this job? Any advice? Thanks!

Chlorine Swimming for babies?
Looking for some studies/clarification on the safety of chlorinated pools for an 18 month old. In my country baby swim classes are popular from 4 months of age but due to COVID I only recently started bringing her once a week. I myself can't swim and I wanted her to be more comfortable in the water. I found a study https://erj.ersjournals.com/content/36/1/41 that says there is an increased risk of bronchiolitis during infancy and increased risk of asthma and respiratory issues later in life. Is there an optimum age/sensitive period to instill water/swimming confidence in a child, would it be better to delay until 3yrs plus, or reduce sessions to once a fortnight/month to reduce risks?

Can’t do this anymore
I legitimately think we have the baby with the worst sleep in the world. He’s 12 weeks old today. He wakes up nearly every single hour until the morning . He won’t go to sleep without drinking milk . I’m not able to sleep in between his wakings because I feel like he’ll wake up any moment. I her him starting to move and wake even when he’s not . I see scary things when I close my eyes…. Like scary people in dark rooms (this is when I’m awake with eyes closed). I cry and cry and cry . I hate having to get up after all that and spend the days with my baby just to do it again at night . I don’t like my baby much through the night . I don’t want to see anyone or go anywhere because I’m tired. Everyone says to seek mental health help but I need SLEEP. My partner helps but we’re both at this point . Just wanted to vent; I’m not sure what I’m looking for .

Does anyone else misses doing things they used to love before baby
I used to love gardening . That's one thing that has kept me sane for many years. I have a 6 week old now . Only thing I get to do is look at the garden . I will put my son down for a nap and can sit there staring at him for hours , he will sleep perfectly fine. The minute I step foot in the garden and pick up a tool he will start crying for food or comfort . As if he knows. Anyone else feeling trapped? PS don't get me wrong, I love my son very very much I would do anything for him .
