F**k muted tones and greens and greys and browns!

I hate them. I want the pinks and purples and sparkles but people look at me like I've got two heads when I start using "gendered" clothing items. I like the pretty dresses, my daughter likes the pretty dresses but you know what she also likes? Dinosaurs. And she loves bright colours. Anything bright, Anything pink, she loves those plastic high heels too. And I don't care. Because I hate the muted colours. I hate when I walk in to someone's house and there's no colour anywhere. Brown, grey, cream, all horrible. And they do it as long as possible too. Like I've heard parents tell their 7 year old the shark t shirt he wants is too bright, but he's wearing something that matches the colour of my grandmother's curtains. Children can match whatever aesthetic you want until their old enough to ask for their own clothes but denying them that because they don't match your aesthetic is wrong. Kids are walking around looking like curtains and grandparents all of a sudden and I hate it!!

What’s your go to trick for when your kids have a meltdown out in public?

My daughter (4) had an epic temper tantrum at our local farmers market today when she couldn’t get something and I had to wind up carrying her out like a sack of potato’s. It’s been 4 years and I still don’t think I’ve mastered the art of dealing with the meltdowns, I always feel super judged that my kid is the one throwing a fit and like I’m doing the wrong thing to calm her down.

Covid vaccine for children younger than 5

Does any one have any updated information on when we can expect a vaccine for those younger than 5. All I can find in any news story is that data for 2-4 year olds will be submitted “shortly” after it is submitted for 5 year olds, and then data for 6 months and up “shortly after that”. Then I read in the New York Times today that we shouldn’t expect a vaccine for children under 5 until sometime next year. So does anyone have a more clear understanding of the timeline

1st trimester is kicking my butt

Hi, I'm a 30F and I'm 7 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby. I can't describe how sucky this 1st trimester has been. The constant nausea and vomiting, complete loss of appetite, depression, overwhelming exhaustion... Pretty much, if it's on WebMD's list of 1st trimester symptoms, I have it. I know there's a good chance that I'll start feeling better in the 2nd trimester, but 5 weeks seems like such a long way away. If anyone has any words of encouragement or tips, I'd really appreciate it.

Update on my daughters brain tumor surgery!

We’re already home and she’s recovering so well! They did a week of testing that they needed to do to make sure they could removed the tumor and it was hell! They had to keep her sedated the whole time she was there because of she woke up she would try and rip out the I’ve and the wires that were going into her brain! It was exhausting! The surgery was Friday and when she woke up Saturday still attached to some machines she was very upset and not able to calm down again(she has sensory issues as well) they decided that everything looked well enough that she could go home. Here we are Sunday evening and she’s walking and smiling and doesn’t even mind that they shaved half her head! Thanks for all the support everyone!

Today, I feel like I genius!

It was time to give my son a bath but I’ve been dealing with a pretty bad headache and was dreading the bright lights of the bathroom. My son, who’s three has been obsessed with anything spooky lately so I came up with an awesome idea. I got his Spider-Man lantern and his mini light up pumpkin and we had a lights off “spooky” bath time! He loved it so much and I got to relax a little in a dark, warm room. Mom win!

how do I keep my children entertained?

I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old. Both girls. Eldest child is strong-willed and gets bored easily. Youngest is more relaxed and goes with the flow. She follows her older sisters lead. I cannot find activities to please both of them. I don't want them to default to TV all of the time. ANY ADVICE OR IDEAS would be great.

Did you know there are now contact lenses that can slow the progression of myopia in age-appropriate children: they’re called MiSight® 1 day, and they are FDA-approved. Here's what you need to know. @CooperVisionGLB #Health https://t.co/XboJL49Ikg
