Babies have a real talent for knowing exactly when you're about to try and get some shut-eye.

New app

I know I always second guess myself when dressing my baby but I recently found an app called baby weather and it’s been so awesome. It shows you what clothing options to put your baby in depending on the weather and temperature

Help me not feel bad about institutionalizing my special needs child

My son is thirteen years old, diagnosed autistic with developmental delays. His frustration tolerance has vanished and he has violent outbursts and engages in property damage on a daily basis. I honestly don’t think he understands what’s going on but for the safety of ourselves, his mother and I have gotten him on a waitlist for psychiatric inpatient care. His behaviors and impatience (particularly surrounding Halloween) have skyrocketed this week and we’re on the verge of taking him to the emergency room and telling them we can’t have him in our house for our safety. This would be horribly, life altering traumatic to him but I don’t know what else to do. We’ve hit a crisis point of living in fear in our own home.

What is the nicest way to tell your family/friends to NOT kiss your baby?

I don't know how to tell them to not kiss my baby without sounding rude.

Which vaccines are a requirement for getting family with kids together?

We are planning ahead for family holidays with our 1.5 year old, who is healthy and up to date on vaccinations including Covid (recognizing that some vaccine series have not yet been finished at this age). We have family members with under-vaccinated children; they have gotten a few, but not most of the recommended shots or series. I'm wondering whether this sub can help shine a light on which vaccines are most important for other children to have in order to protect my own child from preventable diseases. Are there some that should be a hard requirement for getting together with other kids? And some that are less important if my child is vaccinated against those diseases?

Confused about “shifts” at night

My wife and I have a 1 week old who is feeding every 2-3 hours, and ATM we are both waking up to help each other stay awake. I’ll change/burp and she’ll feed him. In between feedings, we both sleep while baby sleeps. When we are comfortable we want to try a “shift” schedule, but I’m confused how people do this. Sometimes what I read on here makes it seem like people are literally staying awake with their child during the entire shift, then trade and their partner stays awake that whole time. Other times it seems like both partners sleep, but one gets up for changing duty from 8-2, going back to bed in between feedings. Basically one partner just gets uninterrupted sleep for a shift, but no one is staying up for 4-6 hours in a row. Luckily our LO is a great sleeper so far, so we’ve been waking him up to feed and he chills out pretty fast and doesn’t mind being put down again 10-15 mins after a feeding. So what the deal? How do you manage it? What’s your schedule like?

Other teens secretly filmed my kid at the gym

My son is a freshman in high school. Last year he was diagnosed with anxiety and autism. He’s had trouble getting along at school since 5th grade. I was hoping high school would be better and that these kids would find something better to do than make fun of him. Today, some kids at school showed my son a Snapchat video of himself working out at the gym. Now he won’t go to the gym anymore. He’s really creeped out. I just hate this whole ducking town today

Can you help set my expectations for potty training?

My daughter is 16 months and we have no plans to start potty training soon, but we are getting closer to the idea. I am totally in the dark about it! What books do you recommend? Also, my friends kid has been out of diapers for 6 months (he’s 2.5) but he still has issues using the toilet. She often lets him pee in cups or poop outside. Is this normal? Should I expect my daughter to have issues with the toilet for months on end? Is that how your kids were?

only 1 nap at 12 months?

Hey guys my son just turned 12 months and has already gone down to one nap. This seems early to me but just looking for some solidarity I guess. He sleeps about 10-11 hours at night and naps 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon.

Equitable grading practices separate the behavior from the assessment of knowledge. These practices emphasize the belief that all students can learn and meet learning targets. @MaryTownsendEDU @edutopia https://t.co/8Acgkd6t7y

Best punishment

Yesterday my 8y/o told her cousins in a bday party that “my mom is so stupid”. One of the boys saw me walking in and asked me “are you so so mom?” He proceeded to tell me that my daughter said I was so stupid. I was so hurt in that moment I wanted to cry. I told her we were going to talk when we got home. I told her what she said hurt my feelings. She said she was sorry, I explained to her to be careful what she says because once it said you cannot take it back. I took away her electronics games t.v control. I haven’t really told my spouse. For How long should I take her electronics away?

best diaper brand for super sensitive skin baby

hi everyone! my baby is 7.5 months old and has very sensitive skin (eczema & contact dermatitis with diapers) i’m wondering what diaper brands you guys love for sensitive skin. i have tried kirkland, huggies snug&dry, huggies lil snugglers plus, and pampers. they all leak poop bad on my baby and irritated her skin. i’m looking at millie moon but see mixed reviews on them. i need a clean diaper with no harsh ingredients. any suggestions? my baby is about 14-15lbs right now so any size suggestions would be helpful too! (shes in a size 2 right now but i think she needs to size up with the constant blowouts, she’s small so shes no where near the waistband getting snug so idk?) thanks!
