My son won't eat
I don't know what to do. He's four years old and autistic (if that makes a difference) When he wakes up he will eat maybe three pieces of bacon and that's it. He gets chicken for dinner, but he won't touch it. During the day, he will eat snacks, but not much until he wakes up the next day. I've tried introducing him to multiple foods, but he refuses. I tried to get him to eat grapes every now and then. He will pick the food up, put it on his tongue, gag, and put it back down. He does this with everything. His weight has dropped to 37lbs 16kg and I don't know how to get him to eat. I've tried everything, but I'm at my limit and worried about him. He acts like his usual self, but this can't be normal, right? I feel like a bad parent. I'm trying, I really am.

Tonight my kid couldn’t sleep because…
…he’s just learned about both waving and clapping at the same time, so he spent a good 1/2 hour tonight insisting on lying on our bed at arms length from me, alternately waving at the ceiling and clapping his hands. I’m REALLY hoping it’s just the ceiling he was waving at. Now your turn. Why did your baby have trouble sleeping tonight?

Husband left toddler in car to run into gas station store
I told my husband I was not ok with him leaving her in the car to run into the store regardless if the doors were locked and his response was “I just won’t take her if I can’t make a simple stop” and I said “that’s fine”. I don’t know how to make him understand that this isn’t me just being overprotective it’s for her physical safety. She’s only 3 and should not be left alone in the car anywhere. Just to note, he is a very involved and wonderful father and husband. We just have a different view point on this and I think I am right and need him to understand why.

7 year old - young kid book recommendations about body parts and sex?
Hello, so i just saw that my son has been searching boobies on Safari which led to website after website and eventually led to these inappropriate websites. I believe he’s watched a few videos but I don’t want to keep questioning him because he’s really embarrassed. we talked about it, I didn’t shame him at all and it might be time to order some books that can help me educate him about body parts and even about sex. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I’m drawing a blank, Y is for? Tadpole? Long-handle frying pan? Probably obvious to someone so grateful to get some help with this.

Moving away from college aged kid.
We live in Florida. My kid moved out and went to college. They are still in the same state though. However, I have received a very good job offer back in our original state we came from, Iowa. All of the the immediate family is in Iowa. My wife and I have our parents in Iowa and our parents are getting old and are going to need care soon. My kid wants to stay in college in Florida. She says she is cool with us moving back, however, I’m scared leaving her here and feeling like I’m a abandoning her. I need some advice.

I have to pay a $2000k bill for pedialyte.
My 1 year old has severe diarrhea and has had 20+ diapers today. I was advised by the after hours nurse to go to the ER so they could check her electrolytes and hydration. I THOUGHT I had a $350 co pay for er but because I haven’t met my deductible, they put everything towards it. Which equaled $2000. And all they did was give my kid pedialyte. Didn’t check her blood, stool, nothing. Literally looked at her and handed me the bottles to give to her. I am so sad. We do not have the money to pay this but I guess we’ll have to find a way.

No longer feeling part of online “mom communities”
It seems the ages that are most talked about are babies-toddlers; you rarely see any funny/relatable/helpful posts about parenting 6/7/8 year-olds :( It’s kind of isolating honestly. I loved being able to log on & laugh at all of the “struggles of parenting a newborn/toddler” posts. It’s like once they hit school-age, we’re on our own. & I often can’t relate to posts about “moms w/ older kids” bc that usually pertains to parenting preteens & teenagers. Anyone else notice the same?

Just got 9 hours straight of sleep after ELEVEN months of never getting more than 4 hours at a time. Wanna know what worked?
I sent my baby to his grandparents…lol sorry. But seriously, anyone else have a baby that just does not want to sleep? It’s a miracle if we get 4 hours straight. I keep reading these posts saying “I tried this one minor change and it WORKED” and it’s been giving me false hope for months because his sleep doesn’t improve with any little change we try. I’m feeling a little blindsided because before I had a baby, I thought by 11 months babies were definitely only waking up once or twice every night.

2.5 year old is having constipation, what really helps?
He’s seen a doctor and the doctor says it’s most likely diet and not enough water so we are trying to help him. He complains a bit of a sore bum and hasn’t pooped much in the last few days. They seem to be pretty hard and dry. We are trying to give him smoothies with natural laxatives in there and loads of water. Is there anything thats helped your child?

Flu shot at 36 weeks pregnant: too late to be effective?
My question is how good the protection will be for the baby if I get the flu shot at 36 weeks? I wanted to space out my TDAP and the flu shot (I know you can get them at the same time) because I usually feel like I got hit by a train after a vaccine. And then we were moving / parenting classes / tons of stuff at work / my clinic didn’t have the doses, etc. etc. As a result, I’m hoping to get vaccinated next week, when I’m 35/36 weeks pregnant. So my question isn’t whether I should or shouldn’t, but whether it will be sufficient time for the baby to get the antibodies? Of course, I don’t know when she’s actually born, it can be earlier, or later. I’m kicking myself for not prioritizing it and having it earlier… Thank you!
