New with questions

Hi everyone, I (25M) am brand new to yoga. Like, only tried it a couple of times. I'm very overweight and not used to exercise at all, but I really want to become a happier and healthier person. I struggle with anxiety and depression, and I find the yoga community supportive and welcoming which is great, not to mention what folks say yoga does for them mentally. I've not taken care of my body my entire life. I have a very hard time motivating myself to get on a treadmill or weight lift, but I am unsure if yoga will do what I am looking for an am having a hard time understanding the info I can find online lol, so I may need an ELI5. I want to lose weight, get stronger, get better conditioning (I get out of breath from a few stairs) and stop being so stiff and achey. Is yoga good for accomplishing these goals?

I have a tight pain wrapping around the back of my foot when I’m in downward facing dog. Has anyone else had this, know what is causing it, and how to heal it?

Feels like a tight elastic wrapping around the lower, back part of my foot.

Having one of those days? While this soothing practice can't change what happened, it can help you move past it. https://t.co/BWe5L27yIU

Handstand lover? One of our favorite things about handstands is that just like all things in life, there's always room to keep learning & growing. YM teacher Nicole gives us some great tips on what she now plays w/2 years into her handstand practice! https://t.co/zrdvAnzJ1m https://t.co/HoUHFamBZL

I am experiencing a tight pain across the lower, back part of my left heel that slightly wraps under. I feel it most in downward facing dog. Anyone else experience this?

I'm DJing a yoga class. Give me a song that I should play.

Hello, beautiful yoga people. I'm a DJ and I've been practicing yoga for a few years now. I got lucky enough to DJ a yoga class (no specific genre) and I thought it'd be a good idea to ask this sub for a song or two that I can potentially add to my setlist. I feel like it'd be awesome. Send me some (Spotify or YouTube links preferred). Much love.

How do I get to that next level?

I'm not in a weekly yoga class, I have done drop in classes, but mostly it's home practise. I have come really far, but now it's like I'm stuck. How do I go from being really good at basic yoga to being like one of you guys doing a finger tip handstand or doing a full split? How did your practise develop for you to get there? Do you just practise that one pose a lot? Or is through glow yoga that you just go further and further each time? My week consists mostly of cardio and strenght training, so maybe I should out yoga as a higher priority instead?
