The Audacity
My 65 year old male boss just had the audacity to question me on my caffiene intake as I made a fresh pot of coffee for the office. I was just telling him how at 32 weeks pregnant I'm getting no sleep due to my bladder and general uncomfy-ness, my 4 year old is going through a sleep regression and my husband was up sick all night. AND I gave up soda pop during work days. So yes, I will have a WHOLE two cups of coffee today. The first one this morning I didn't even have a chance to finish due to HIS impromptu meeting I had to attend. That is all. I will be enjoying my freshly brewed cup of afternoon coffee, now.

Kids destroying things...
Tl/dr: How do I educate or properly discipline children who constantly destroy things? I try to be on the gentle parenting side, but I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to teach my kids how to respect other people's boundaries and possessions. As a few examples, they are ALWAYS drawing and writing on things like walls, objects, furniture, even my plants on a few occasions. They constantly rip books to pieces. Yesterday, my son (7M) stole one of his father's knives and scratched up the toilet seat and tore up the shower curtain. Today my daughter (5F) dumped nail polish in one of my plants and this is the third time this week she has opened the bathroom cupboard and dumped contents of lotions, oils, and soaps into the toilet. All of them steal things constantly. I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried so many different things.

A group of professors at Massachusetts Institute of Technology dropped a provocative white paper in September that proposed a new kind of college that would address some of the growing public skepticism of higher education. @jryoung @edsurge https://t.co/qS4asNMmLV

Is anyone else's 4 year old catching *everything* atm?
My son has had a new bug every fortnight since he started back at school in September. As soon as we get over one, there's a new one. None of the rest of us catch them (incl the 7yo). I wonder if it's because he was 1 at the start of the pandemic and just hasn't had the exposure to germs...? Anyone else, or just me?

3 year old refusing to poop in toilet or potty
My three year (37 month) old daughter has been peeing in the toilet for about 5 months. She’s pooped in the big toilet twice and pooped in her little potty 3 or 4 times. She’s got excellent control of her movements (she will hold it for as long as necessary). I’ve tried everything I can think of. Reading her books on the toilet, letting her watch videos on the toilet, bringing toys to the toilet. I sit with her. I offer to leave. I tried making her stay in the bathroom with a diaper on. Nothing is working! When she needs to poop, she asks for a diaper and when she gets one she runs off to hide and poop. Do I need to toughen up and start refusing her a diaper? Even if it means she cries? I’m worried she will hold it and get constipation. I’m feeling like a failure as a dad.

We're cheering on John Herdman, Canada's soccer coach, from home! When we spoke to him in 2014 about the idea of Play Angels and free play for kids, he had a lot of great insight and advice. Here's what he had to say: https://t.co/BD0xX1QPRB

Visiting newborns - what to bring?
I am visiting my nephews (twins) a few weeks after they were born (wanted them to have time to settle in they got spammed by enough visitors the first few weeks) wondering what I should bring with me? Perhaps any small need-to-have twin items to make life easier for them? Was thinking food but they eat very very healthy and have diet restrictions so I may not go that route. Thanks all! I appreciate the advice. It’s been a little while since the baby phase for me and I am totally blank.

UPDATE: we are shitty dog owners.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for everyone that made me realize we're NOT shitty dog owners. I have the dog a bath yesterday and used some warm water to start loosening her crusted over eye, then used warm compresses until she could open her eye and I could loosen all the gunk. She still needs it trimmed so we still need to find someone to groom her, but at least she's more comfortable now. Depression is hard, y'all.

Huffy grandparent not doing as you ask
Does anyone else's parent go in a huff when you ask then to stop doing something that is negatively impacting their child? For example, our 1 year old is easily distracted during dinner and his grandparent comes over for dinner once a week. Grandparent keeps talking at him during dinner so the wee one wants to keep interacting with him. Grandparent is saying the usual "eat your dinner, eat up, is that nice, yum yum, etc" but nonstop, and obviously the wee one just wants look round all the time. So we keep asking them to try to ignore him during dinner as he doesn't know what you are saying and you're just distracting him. Then they make some smart arse comment and go in a huff.

Will the supermarket be very busy Wednesday (before thanksgiving?)
Do you think the supermarkets will be packed Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving, or will most people have done their shopping? Take down if inappropriate - I didn’t know where to post this but am starting to stress that I don’t have time to go earlier!

6 month old first foods. How often do we feed, starting from day 1?
Hello So, I’ve been roaming around Google and solid start but I can’t seem to find an actual schedule from day 1. Starting off with breast milk and an oat cereal; we’ve found that the top 5 links on Google all have different answers. One says 1-2 teaspoons and try again later, one says half a cup 3x a day, another says 1-2 tablespoons once a week. I guess, what’s the schedule everyone’s using to introduce foods, at 6 months? Thanks

Anyone else with a little girl who wants input into every outfit?
My daughter is 4. I honestly do love how she is into her outfits/her hair/her nails, etc. but lately it’s becoming more & more difficult to dress her in the mornings for school. She wants input into every outfit she wears and if she doesn’t like something I choose, she will straight up refuse to put it on and lose her shit over it. Right now it’s a short sleeve dress with princesses on it that she wants to constantly wear. Well it’s 30 degrees here 🤦🏻♀️ I put leggings under but it’s still short sleeve. What do you do to combat the stubbornness, or do you just roll with it and let them choose? It’s driving me nuts I can’t just pick and outfit out and put it on her.
