Grocery shopping isn’t self care

Can you please help me reiterate that grocery shopping isn’t self care to my husband? Sure, I didn’t have to take the kids with me and he stayed home with them both so I could go alone. It didn’t mean I had a GREAT time. I had to do necessary errands in order for the household to function right. I had a list of the things I needed. Got them and left. I didn’t browse leisurely. I didn’t stop and get coffee. I went for the necessary things and came home. Maybe next time I will browse and get coffee. He asked something to the degree if I had fun and I responded with a strong no. I mean why does grocery shopping get to be considered my alone time?

Reading aloud is one of the few spaces that checks all the boxes in terms of social, emotional and mental health. @DOTellMedia @andee_tagle https://t.co/Z8EgZ422HG

Am I going to be paying for swimming lessons forever?

How long did it take your child to learn how to swim? I've got two children. 1 is nearly 8 and one is 6. Both are in the same swimming group. They've just been moved up but I honestly think they're still a couple of years away from being decent swimmers. It's £42 a month so I'm hoping I won't be paying that for too long. UK swimming lessons, 30 mins a week in groups of 6 with 1 teacher. I take them myself now and again but they will not swim properly, it's always a mad, fun session.

Child’s smell when sick?!

Does anyone else’s kid REEK when sick? I just got back from the ER with my 2yr old daughter. She has RSV, pretty bad but she’s okay. The last few days she has smelled so awful but baths didn’t help and it’s not like a body odor smell.. this morning when she physically showed she was sick it was much worse. I asked the doctor about this and she looked at me like I was nuts but I can’t explain it! It’s like almost rotten and I feel so bad but I gag when she cuddles with me. (Still going to cuddle, im not a monster lol) So strange, but maybe I’ll be able to tell she’s getting sick now if I smell it again. Lol

Meltdowns in Public

Any tips on how to respond that I'm not thinking of? She's 18 months and recently discovered the power of a good meltdown. At home, we give her some space, validate and name feelings, tell her we're there for her when she's ready. Yesterday she had a meltdown at the mall because...who knows. I did everything above (didn't give her as much space because she's going to be within arm's reach if we're out) but wondering if there's something else. The floor wasn't *that* dirty so I let her lay down for a bit but if it was super gross I would have picked her up.

Gymnastics parents! Is this gym’s waiver normal??

My daughter is 4 and has been in gymnastics since she was 3. She loves it. The gym we go to is great and I’m happy with it, but they have just emailed all the parents this new waiver we have to sign now and it’s.. intense. We now have to say that in case of serious injury or death the gym is not liable. She’s in dance, swimming and soccer as well and none of the other activities require this kind of waiver. I obviously find it really off putting and I am not comfortable with saying “oh yeah, sure you’re telling me my child might become seriously hurt here but I’ll sign that that’s totally fine.” I mean, is gymnastics a really dangerous sport??? I don’t want to participate now but she loves it and I hate to take it away from her.

Donating my eggs

Not sure if this is a beyond the bump topic but here we go: Every day I look at my LO I think about how lucky I am to gave her and how much I love our bond. I also think about women I’ve known that struggled with fertility and I thought about donating my eggs since Im healthy and in my mid 20s. I don’t think I would be a surrogate because I hated being pregnant but I would help someone else. I feel like there’s a ton of articles about the facts and such, but I would really like to hear from anyone who has actually donated and your experience. I think I’m a little scared of the process? But also if anyone has used an egg donor, I’d love to hear your stories! As a side note, my partner and I have talked about it, we’re both on board ideologically about egg and sperm donation (he’s never done it but supports it and supports me) so that’s not a problem here. Im so sorry if this doesn’t belong here. Just tell me to go away and I will haha

What are things you missed out on as a child which you will educate your little ones about?

Some things that come to mind… Money - Financial Planning / Budgeting / Investing / Taxes Volunteering - Helping Others Professional career options (Beyond General Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer - even those fields in details) Importance of health - Physical, Mental, Spiritual Identity - Roots and discovering who they are

Six week injections today and I am so nervous

More of a 'support needed' than discussion. I am 100% in favour of vaccinations. I have never even considered not getting them. Modern medicine ftw. It's just that they're today and she's so little and what if she has one of those one in a million allergic reactions? She's just so tiny. I have seen the aftermath of a reaction to a vaccine (kid didn't come close to dying though, just felt awful). Even if she gets a bad fever, that's not good for her little body. Reassure me.

Update from a few deleted posts earlier this year

Earlier this year I made a few posts here regarding my husband of barely a year and how bad things were with us. I could bore you all by rehashing the emotional, physical, and financial abuse but that’s not why I’m here. I’m proud to report that I left him. I’m now literally the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. My baby who is now 15 months is the happiest sweetest angel and I’m so glad she’s getting the best version of me. I filed back in June and moved out at the end of august. I’ve been out for a few months now and cannot believe what I just escaped. Thank you all for every comment of support and/or the tough love of telling me to leave.

If one child has a cow milk protein allergy, how likely is the second one to?

Basically the title. First LO had it and I’m wondering how much that raises the odds for second LO.
