9 year old was sent to the principal for showing classmates the definition of “vagina”

My 9 year old son (almost 10). Had a standardized test today. During the post-test free time, he thought it would be funny to look up the definition of the word “vagina” in the dictionary and share it with his friends. We are a pretty open/science based home. A penis is a penis, a vagina is a vagina, not a “Weiner” or a “hoo-hah”. I’m currently pregnant and he knows how that happened (sperm meeting egg), no stork stories here. The teacher called my husband, who just called me. I have to admit I had a pretty big laugh about it when he told me, but I need some guidance. I want to let my son know that what he did was inappropriate without making the actual word “vagina” inappropriate. And advice on how to proceed is appreciated, I have pick up in 2 hours!

How do people afford childcare?

Looking for advice and maybe a rant post. I don’t understand how can people afford childcare. We are a family in CT, US with 1 toddler and one on the way. Daycares are 2k+/child a month (and so many of them are short hours, goes to noon or 3pm), babysitters / Nannies are 20+/hr. How do people make it work?

My kids are fucking bad…

I had two appointments one yesterday and one today. My two youngest kids are almost 3 & almost 2. They were born 11 months and 3 days apart. At both appointments they cried, screamed, ran through the offices. I chase them and try to act in control but it’s obvious I’m really not. I was pouring sweat today chasing them. I look so fucking incompetent. It’s absolutely humiliating. I had a panic attack on the drive home yesterday and sobbed for hours. Sobbing today because I’m so, so embarrassed. I feel so sorry for my babies because they have no discipline and don’t know how to act because of my bad parenting. I don’t want to go anywhere with them but at the same time taking little outings is how they learn to behave in public. Fuck. My anxiety is at its peak , I feel so defeated. Why does it have to be so hard?

Remember to listen to yourself, parents! Listen to yourself is giving yourself a break. End it with an #OMmoment - that nanovacation. Here's a video on what that means. https://t.co/wN8uneg0AF https://t.co/sBvXYR48GH

By talking about it, we make it less scary. By talking about it, we start to say, “It’s OK to say you're not OK.” And then to get the help that you need in order to feel better. @MPRnews @CathyWurzer https://t.co/PU0YXMH5zR

Cocomelon is overstimulating

Hey everybody, I recently saw a tiktok about how Cocomelon is overstimulating for babies and is like “crack” for them. They say it’s because of how fast the scenes change (about 2-3 seconds) when other kids shows are about 6-8 seconds. Does anyone have any more info on this ?

Supporting my wife- what am I doing wrong?

I have a happy and healthy 16 month old. As a dad I am committed to being a part of everything (diapers, bedtime, bath etc.) and love doing it. I leave the house everyday for work but my wife has to work from home. We have a family member who comes to the house every day to watch our child. My wife (understandably so) says she feels trapped in the house. I tell her that as soon as I get home from work, I am more then happy to assume all the childcare duties so she can go do whatever she likes (workout, walk, nails done, dinner with friends etc). The issue is she doesn’t do any of these things and then proceeds to be on a cycle of berating me that she is trapped, that I don’t do enough (I do 100% of the cooking and 80% of all household chores). Recently I started waking up early before everyone to work out without infringing on family time. My wife is upset that I am choosing to work out instead of doing things around the house. I am at my wits end. What am I doing wrong?

Does anyone else get really protective over their baby's sleep?

Lol I know that sounds weird, but I can't help but get kind of aggravated when my baby just falls asleep and a visitor wakes him up by talking to him or wanting to hold him. I understand they want to visit with the baby, but if he doesn't get those naps in, its ME having to calm down an overtired screaming baby later that night. I hate when he falls asleep in the carseat on the way to somewhere and someone wants to get him out right when we arrive, or when they come to the house to visit and he falls asleep on me or someone else and they talk loud enough to wake him up. I know you want the baby to get used to sleeping through noise, but I also just sit there and picture my night later that night with an upset baby. Hes 3 months now and a lighter sleeper. Just a small rant lol. And everyone says "oh he's gonna sleep good tonight, he's been awake so long" Nope - actually the exact opposite! Please let the baby sleep!

Don’t touch my baby

I was at the grocery store and while I was checking out, the woman behind me started talking to my baby and touching his face. So I pulled the cart over to the bags and started loading it. She got all butt hurt about it. “I wasn’t going to hurt him!” Like lady, I never said you were but we are in a freaking pandemic and numbers are surging here. Don’t be surprised if people don’t want you touching their kid!
