In the next 30 years, sea levels could rise as much as they have in the previous 100 years, according to a new report published by @NOAA, @NASAEarth, @USGS, and other government agencies. Sea levels along U.S. coastlines could rise 10-12 inches by 2050: https://t.co/dhhw1fGX4z https://t.co/ksmATF0WtB

"You'll be flying along some nights with a full moon...You look up there and just say to yourself: I've got to get up there." -Roger Chaffee (New York Times) Today we remember Roger Chaffee on his birthday. Mathematician Katherine Johnson calculated trajectories for some of @NASA’s most important missions. She made incredible contributions to space history, though they were overlooked for decades. More on her legacy: https://t.co/ddqmPb87kG #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/yvxMuAASj9

By 2050, sea level along the U.S. coastlines will rise between 10-12 inches (25-30 cm) on average, which will lead to a significant increase in coastal flooding over the next three decades, a new interagency sea level task force report finds. https://t.co/mRuUrqAaTV https://t.co/3RF1atzSar

After 8 years, I finally started printing my astrophotography images. Something about the work in print feels so much different than seeing it on a screen. This is me holding up my image of the Trifid Nebula, one of the beautiful objects in our galaxy, captured from a 17" telescope in the desert.

The treadmill in the @Space_station’s Tranquility module is acronymed after a comedian who urged TV viewers to vote in a naming poll. Do you know who that was? 🤔 https://t.co/zdcUmWUUtW

You CanNow Spot Venus In Daytime
Hey, claiming bragging rights here because there are surely a few astronomy geeks on r/space. I’ve been trying for several months to see Venus in daytime. Our months long temperature-inversion finally cleared and this was my lucky morning (10 AM). For my big hands and long arms it’s about three palm widths west of the sun and about the same altitude as the sun. I first looked up and accidentally saw daytime-Venus just pre covid. Over many years I’ve seen it many times in daytime but usually by spotting about dawn and following it along a roofline or power line. It is right at the limit of vision but you can spot it first with averted vision, then you can come back and look directly at it. My eyes are 74 years old. I’m challenging younger eyes if you happen to live in clear sky country. It’s not easy but it’s fun. There should be T-shirts.
