Spent this winter searching the night skies for cosmic sea creatures. Found a jellyfish, squid and dolphin.

What are conjunction data messages

I’m currently doing a project on satellite collision avoidance using machine learning. I came across a dataset by the ESA, which was also part of a challenge for creating an algorithm for satellite collision avoidance. Apparently, this dataset contains information from this thing called a conjunction data messages, which are basically information sent by the satellite to the earth whenever it detects an object nearing it. I don’t completely understand this, which is why I’m reaching out. What exactly is a conjunction data message, and is it available in all satellites? I don’t understand why machine learning is used in this.

The trifecta of early spaceflight: Mercury astronaut Wally Schirra was the only person to fly in all three of the early US crewed spaceflight programs—Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. He was born on this day in 1923. https://t.co/aCFKoFl1ra

If you’re in a country where you think you could be illegally detained by authorities, check out the App, “Red Button,” on the App Store. Activating it will summon lawyers and notify your family if you are detained by police. https://t.co/Anb0MULOBx

36 years ago Halley's Comet visited us. This image was taken in 1986 with the (now decommissioned) Grand Prisme Objectif telescope at La Silla Observatory. We'll have to wait until 2061 to see it again. 🔗 https://t.co/AfBVHLX7xk Credit: @ESO https://t.co/3lmUgpugKP

Why hasn't the James Webb Space Telescope received more media coverage, especially when it launched?

Silly me was expecting to see it in a lot more places. I was definitely expecting more coverage on the launch day. It's disappointing that I have to follow specific pages and/or search myself just to get updates on its progress. This really should be covered more.
