Do telescopes increase or have no effect on the amount of time an observer is able to see into the past when viewing distant objects?

So let’s say I’m looking up at the night sky at Arcturus with the no telescope. Arcturus is approximately 37 light years away, so that means that the photons my eyes are picking up from that star were created and sent zipping across the galaxy 37 years ago. Now if I were to observe that same star with a moderately powerful telescope, am I still observing the same 37 year old photons with just greater detail? Or does the telescopes magnification essentially enable me to observe the star longer ago in the past? Like, am I seeing the light from Arcturus through the telescope sooner than I would without a visual aid? Perhaps a silly question but one I’ve been thinking about lately

Criterion rv-6 telescope questions

I received a criterion rv-6 dynascope for no cost but it is in need of clean up and minor repair. Is this a good telescope to start off with? I'm very new to telescoped and know very little so any pointers are greatly appreciated.
