The Helix Nebula from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The Nebula resembles a monster's eye with the mixture of green and blue being the iris and the red starlet as the pupil. How beautiful. 2007-02-12

Made a painting about last December's Great Conjunction and coinciding Ursids meteor shower. As both an amateur astronomer and painter, the event made a lasting impression on me and I had to commemorate it in my own way.

Effect of space craft speed on Whipple shield.

I was reading about someone wanting to use a fusion drive to fly to mars in 30 days, and that got me thinking what effect would traveling at 70+ miles per second would have on the Whipple shielding.
