Just wanted to celebrate my incredible mom, NASA SOFIA Pilot Liz Ruth! She was the aircraft commander on the flight when they first detected water on the sunlit surface of the Moon. Hope this is okay to post here!

Elon Musk’s SpaceX is literally launching a Dogecoin-funded satellite to the Moon SpaceX is now accepting Dogecoin, and it’ll be paid exclusively in the cryptocurrency to launch an upcoming satellite named DOGE-1 to — yes — the Moon. The DOGE-1 is a cubesat meant to acquire “lunar-spatial intelligence” using onboard cameras and sensors. It’s being sent and paid for by a company named Geometric Energy Corporation, and it’ll be flown up on a Falcon 9 rocket in the first quarter of 2022. Photo by SpaceX Caption from verge #spacex #doge

Choosing between the Celestron 70EQ and 127EQ telescopes?
I'm looking to get my first telescope. I'm trying to better understand the difference between the 70EQ and the 127EQ. In terms of what they'll offer image wise... In particular I'm hoping I can use my telescope to take photographs. Which as I understand you can do with both of these. Also, if there are any other telescopes around the £200 mark (250USD I'd guess) let me know! Thanks.

So I just counted a line of 28 starlink satellites pass over Berlin, well lit due to inclination. Never noticed them as it is one of the first clear warm nights of the year.
How are people not talking about this outside of the astronomy community?! I know they are a problem for astronomers but when you see a line of about 30 objects passing over how are people not complaining that the night sky - the symbol of the universe and our place in it, Mysterious to antiquity, is getting dumped on by billionaires who want to beam adverts to people's social media feeds. I don't think people realise, to be fair, the difference between aircraft and satellites. But still. I have decent vision and they're as bright as any star.

A gigantic asterism you may not know about is the Diamond of Virgo. Begin with Spica. Upper left from Spica is Arcturus. Almost as far upper right from Arcturus is fainter Cor Caroli. The same distance lower right is Denebola. And then back to Spica. https://t.co/G3lUN2N3SK https://t.co/RYVOw6aCtU

Why are planets round?
Expect this is a silly question - but the Mars probe has me looking at things for the first time - and this question always struck me as 'odd' that it should be that way - other than internal gravity I guess - and also as a corollary question - why do the planets \[in diagrams at least\] all \[seem to\] fly in the same plane around the sun? Thanks for any info that will keep me interested in exploring more.
