Blue jet lightning spotted from the ISS. These strange and exotic blue jets stretch into the stratosphere and are believed to be a kind of short-range electric discharge inside the thundercloud, resulting from turbulent mixing and bringing oppositely charged regions close together. [1200 x 676]

Going from a career in business to NASA; advice for non-interns and non-engineers?
Hi there! I'm an Operations Manager for a large tech company, but I’ve always dreamed of leaving the business world behind and working for NASA/JPL some day. Unfortunately, it's hard to find much info on full-time, non-engineering roles. If you work at NASA/JLP in operations, HR, marketing, analytics, etc., then I'd love to know: * What's your experience been like at NASA? (I.e. culture, work/life balance, differences from the private sector, etc.) * Is it feasible to move from a private sector desk job to NASA without an internship/prior government experience? My first 8 applications were rejected so any advice for the next batch? * (Optional) ignore the first 2 bullets and tell us whatever insight you want to share! Any advice is extremely appreciated and I hope you have a great day :) Thanks!

He helped plan the Viking missions and was a tireless promoter of the Viking program and other planetary exploration. https://t.co/5gnaZIjVGg
