Mat slipping issues, it might be your front arm strength issues instead of the mats issues
Hi people, I saw a lot of people posting about getting a more gripping mat. I was having the same issues before, then i noticed that some of the more experienced yoga teachers using the slippery mat, but they didnt slip. Then , i kinda started to figure out that it might not be the mat but how you lay down your hand. The hand pressure you put on can make the mat slippery. You have to actively lay down all parts of your hand instead of put lots if pressure on your wrists. After i constantly adjust my hand to lay down correctly, my mat isn’t as slipery as it use to be anymore. I always used a lot of the grip powder from maduka before, now i only apply a tiny bit. Use your forearm strength really helps.

[COMP] Hip Opening Stretches
My lower back and hips lock up on me from time to time. Recently I started doing these stretches in the morning and after a couple weeks have noticed an improvement. If anyone out there is suffering from pain in your pelvic region I hope these stretches help you! Namaste

How to I start practicing alone?
Bee doing yoga for a few years now but I have always gone to a class or used a video to go through the moves. I would like to be able to just take myself outside with my mat and do a good yoga practice, but I often find if I don't have the rigidity of the class I fall out of the flow and the practice and give up. Does anyone else ever struggle with this? I should make an attempt to learn my routine the next time I'm in class and to just match that when I'm alone I guess, that's the simple answer at least

Covid Yoga?
So, day one of my second covid. I’m fatigued, and a bit congested, but my temp is normal. I’m thinking some easy yoga might be good, especially if it opens my lungs. Any suggestions for good asanas? Thanks!

Getting into yoga but lower back hurts when stretching
Hi all. I'm hoping someone here can tell me how to resolve this lower back issue. Whenever I bend over to touch my toes, my lower back will feel off for the rest of the day. Sometimes this is even painful. I am just starting basic yoga, and I feel the need to stretch a bit before I begin. This helps me to be able to do a few of the poses easier. I need to get the tendons behind my knees to stretch out. Currently I cannot touch my toes, but I want to achieve it. But the lower back issue is preventing it. If I don't do the bending over stretch, my lower back does not hurt. Any ideas? Thank you!

Hello fellow yogers… yogis :), I’m a heavy guy and sweat a lot in my classes. I currently have a mat+pad combo to help me with slipping. Anyone know a great mat that is nonslip?

Does this happen to anyone else at yoga class? Would love your advice!
Long story short… I do yoga 5-7 times a week, for a long time now. I have a love hate relationship with the practice… but lately this has been happening to me… If I’m in a class, heated or non-heated (unless it’s a yin class or a meditation class) … if the instructor goes over the scheduled class time, I start to get PANIC ANXIETY. Does this happen to anyone else? I could be doing well in the class, feeling healthy and not anxious, then if I check my Apple Watch (I know I can take it off, I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this sensation) and I notice the instructor is going over the scheduled class time, I start to panic. Has anyone else ever felt this way? I’m a pretty anxious person in general, but lately nothing sets my anxiety off more than this.

How to pack my mat for a long flight? I want to avoid too many permanent creases if possible (or find a way to give it back its shape)
Hi everyone! Sorry if this has been asked before, but couldn’t find it with my keywords. I am moving to a different country in 6 days and I’m taking my 4mm Gaiam mat with me. It’ll go inside my checked luggage, sadly I can’t carry it with me. I am worried that it will get many creases, being tightly packed against my other things. I have a mat bag and I’ll try to pack soft things around it. Is it better to roll it tight or loose? And if creases do form, is there a way to “fill” them back up? Have a great day!!
