Can we get a little more "good job for doing a modification!" in class and less "yes great job [person doing advance pose]!"
I'm just always a little perturbed by the singular encouragement of those who push themselves into poses one wouldn't expect to do unless years and years into dedicated practice. Absolutely encourage them, it's wonderful, but "pushing yourself" looks very different in people and *not pushing yourself* can be even harder. I have injuries from yoga and take many mods and am happy to congratulate myself, but I wish I could be in an environment that truly talked that walk of being true to your body. What do y'all think? Any ideas why this isn't done or do you go to a studio that does?

Hopefully you won't think this is spam, but I created a yoga workout using a text-to-video AI tool and it's absolutely bizarre. It's like yoga from another planet. I think people who practice yoga will find it funny so thought I'd share here!

Types of yoga for mobility, this the best strategy?
So heya guys I’m looking at doing Yin Yoga twice a week and a Vinyasa foundation flow. My main goals are mobility and flexibility I’ve pretty much neglected flexibility and mobility work since lifting weights and I feel stiff all the time now. So to regain some mobility I thought, to focus on yoga and more cardio because I’m also just getting into kick boxing. Eventually would like to get back into lifting Is this a good choice?

Hot yoga and weights on the same day? How do you do it?
Hello everyone, I’m not totally new to yoga but I’m still very much of a beginner. Yesterday I had my first hot yoga class and oh buoy! It humbled me in a good way. Before the class, I was thinking to do weight training and hot yoga on same day for like 3 days a week. I’m only thinking to do weights 3 times/week as I also play sports in leagues (2 times/week) and my choice of a workout is yoga (I will do it more than 3 times/week). I just want to know does it get easier? I’m fairly in decent shape( or so I thoght). I know people do it and I wanna know, how do you manage it? And have enough energy to function throughout the day?

i literally don’t know how to move my body. what do i do?
i’ve done yoga off and on and i definitely like it, but i’m also EXCEEDINGLY bad at it. i have no idea where my body is in space, on or off the mat. i also can’t figure out the flow from any movement to any other movement, again on or off the mat. even in my daily life, i just stumble around and hit things. i have a major disconnect from my body, due to a condition called dyspraxia (it’s like full-body dyslexia), but also due to years of having an eating disorder/body trauma/etc. my body CAN move, and other than my thighs being too thick for most things, i am pretty flexible. i just can’t MAKE it move. i logically know what dancing SHOULD look like, but i’ve never been able to dance; i logically know what walking SHOULD look like, but i don’t walk properly. similarly, i know what the poses SHOULD look like, but my body is so disproportionate and so clumsy that i don’t look right doing them. is my body just wrong for yoga?

Yoga teachers: what is your standard rate?
Hello all, I have just returned from teaching my very first ever yoga class! It was wonderful fun and I feel so fortunate to get paid to do what I love. The place I am teaching had another teacher who just left to get married, so I have taken over her class. I was under the impression that what I'm being paid is more than generous, it's 4.5 times the rate I'm usually paid for crossfit *and* I was told by the boss to claim 3 hours pay for every hour worked. It's a lot of money per session. As I was leaving the boss made a comment about how I should claim 3 hours because "it'll still work out cheaper than the previous teachers rate." It got me thinking, how much is the standard teaching rate for an hours yoga session? It's a very small class, not one where the students pay as it's included with other fees they pay to the company. Are people charging hundreds for the hour or was my predecessor just charging premium?

New yoga teacher help!
I am a new yoga teacher and need help sequencing my first class! It’s for beginners and I’m going to go over the basics. I’ve very overwhelmed and anxious. When sequencing your first class to beginners, should you focus on a peak pose or more of a flow through the basic asanas? Maybe a warrior flow? Please someone guide me on how to simplify the process and create a great class. Thank you!

Any tips on Hair and Skincare for hot yoga?
I enjoy hot yoga but I've noticed subtle changes in my skin which is possibly due to the heat. Any suggestions on what I can do to protect my skin in class or post class? Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Student sick and went to yoga
Went to hot yoga on Sunday and noticed the woman next to me was sniffing and blowing her nose. The entire time she looked like she was really struggling and even the teacher noticed. Wednesday night I start to get a sore throat and now I’m sick. I work from home so not out much so I’m convinced I’ve picked up whatever she has. I’m annoyed as surely if she was unwell going to a hot yoga class wasn’t going to be a good idea and now I’m off work sick. Grr…

struggling with patience and breathing during yoga
i’ve been trying to do more yoga for the past few months n im a very anxious and fidgety person so i don’t do well just like ~being~ and my sister has started to watch me while i do it sometimes and mentions that i need to focus on my breathing more. i tend to hold my breath by accident and focus more on my form and flexibility rather than what i wanted from yoga which was the peace and mindfulness and breathing. any tips on how to slow my breathing or whatever i don’t even know what it is i’m really supposed to do

Iso: Diy hot yoga (yoga done alternative)
Has anyone come up with a good way to do hot yoga at home without wrecking a room from the humidity? I'm interested in getting a hot yoga dome, but it's SOOO pricey and basically just seems to be a tent. You have to buy your own heater and humidifier so it doesn't seem that special to me. https://www.thehotyogadome.com/ I get the it's cheaper than going to $20 classes every day, but I can't afford that either. Hot yoga is the only one that gives me the endorphins and sense of Cap'n that I'd normally have to go on a long run for, and it also seems to massively help my digestion, so looking for a way to make it happen at home for cheap. A giant tent with poles would be kinda a hassle to set up daily but maybe there is a version that isn't. . Grateful for any tips you all have !
