Does drinking effect your yoga?

Long time lurker here. First time poster. I quit drinking a while ago. 4 years now. When I first quit I found I was in this horrible place where my body was just a bit useless and couldn't do much. I found a video on beginner hatha by accident while looking up 'easy on the body exercise'. Enabled me to do something consistant in the morning where I would usually be hungover or craving some form of drink. I'm curious if anyone else here has had a similar experience? Has your yoga practice influenced other lifestyle choices, like sobriety or healthy eating? For full transparency I'm a developer who's building a side project. [A dating platform for people in London interested in connected with sober/health focused people](https://www.sober-app.co.uk/). Doesn't relate to this post but thought I'd mention it for transparency

Plus size hot yoga

I’m going to my first hot yoga class today. What do plus size people tend to wear to these classes to be comfortable?

Confused! Should I take the Happiness Program or The Inner Engineering?

I have come across numerous reviews regarding both of these programs. Has anyone experienced either one or both of them? While I have been practicing meditation independently, I have a growing desire to engage in a program that incorporates both the physical element and the meditative aspect. Both programs appear to possess certain similarities, yet they also exhibit their own distinctive qualities. Could you kindly suggest which one I should consider?

scared to hurt myself doing yoga wrong?

hi guys, i’m very new to yoga and have never been to a class or anything but wanted to start practising at home. however, i have this phobia that, by doing a pose slightly wrong, i could seriously damage my joints or muscles, and that it’s not actually beneficial as i’m doing it the wrong way. (especially as when trying to copy videos, i’m craning my neck at the tv screen!) i feel like i need someone to physically put me into the right position otherwise i won’t be doing it correctly. does anyone else feel the same? is it actually likely i’ll do more harm than good with yoga? or should i not let it put me off?

New to Hot Vinyasa

Hi y’all! For a majority of my yoga journey I’ve done Iyengar and Hatha types of yoga, which I love! I enjoy holding poses for longer periods of time and working on maintaining good form. But last night I signed up for 2 weeks a new studio that mostly does vinyasa, which I’ve never done. The first class I went to really kicked my butt and I couldn’t even remember the flow because everything was going so fast (yes I know it’s faster pace yoga to begin with haha). I was wondering if any of you had some tips on how to get used to switching so quickly and how to remember the poses when the instructor is no longer guiding lol. Thanks!

Best software and marketing to book clients? (U.K.)

Hi I have only ever taught in gyms and schools where I haven’t need to book in people and/or market. I now have a venue I am hiring ti teach yoga. What kind of booking software would you recommend to book clients in (I can only fit about 15 in the room). Additionally, I was thinking about social media marketing and producing flyers to hang up around town. Any other ideas?

Ripped a huge fart in class, feel like a fkn idiot 😥

Hi guys Long time listener first time caller. So from progressing from a gym class to trialing a few studios, I finally found a studio I’m comfortable in and I’m practicing daily. Fast forward to tonight, I’m in a slow flow class with very quiet music and peaceful atmosphere. You know what’s coming, we did three spinal rolls to seated and on the way up I did the loudest wet sounding fart of my life 😳 I wanted the ground to swallow me up, so ashamed. Then some other yogis were laughing and the laughing continued on. I’m worried about going back to the studio. Any advice? Also any help on how to prevent it? I’m one of the only guys in most classes so it’s obvious it was me

Feeling extremely discouraged

I'm a 21 year old male, and for like the first 17 years of my life I was very lazy - I mostly played games and sat in my room. I am 6ft 160lbs, so not big at all. I'm completely different now, but I still feel the effects of that. I am extremely unflexible, I have APT and very (very) mild scoliosis Basically my body is just completely out of balance because of those years of being sedentary. Whenever I try yoga, I just get extremely discouraged. I can't even do 50% of what other people do, and random places hurt. I get really out of breath and struggle to hold the poses. How quickly does it get better? I want to be flexible but it seems like an almost impossible task :(

pigeon pose issue

whatever leg is my back leg i can’t put my toes flat. it hurts my knee really bad if i try to just let the top of my foot be on the ground. i’ve always been told they’re supposed to lie flat, and i’m perfectly flexible for the position but i’m worried i’m hurting my knees by keeping them bent? even though it hurts less lol
