yin yoga
I just wanted to say I love yin yoga so much. I started it a few years ago but I’ve realized doing it once a week, either Friday nights or Sunday nights, are the best way for me to go into the weekend or to start the week. I used to hate it so much but pushed thru and now I absolutely love yin. My favorite yin classes I take we hold the poses for 6 minutes and it feels like the perfect length. I am so excited my boyfriend is coming with me the next two weeks and wondering how he will react because I know he deals with a lot of negative self-talk/inner dialogue. Anyways happy friday everyone and anyone else love yin or can share their experiences here?

Breathable yoga pants?
Does anyone have recommendations for pants for yoga that aren't leggings but are thin and cool for heated classes? Also keeping the budget in mind!

Should I try a Sadhu board?
I've been doing yoga for two years now and I want to try and incorporate some more things into my spiritual practice, I was thinking standing on nails would be something. Is that something that is worth trying? I don't want to start with beginner boards, rather just short time. Is that a smart thing to do?

Barre is a key
Someone here on this subredit told me, that is not do yoga after barre, because this can lead to damage of muscule. What am I doing? First do 1h barre exercise and then 10 min hip flexor strech. I can go more deep without damage muscule. So, if someone see that can not progress in streching, he can just do barre and simple streches after. My main goal is to do hanumanasana. I just do 1h barre exercise and just do 10 min strech in pigeon pose, low lunge and half split and then to hanumanasana and can go more deep then 1h yoga and then in hanumanasana. So barre is really good preworkout for deep streching without damage. This is what I saw on me.

Ragdoll Pose
I've been doing yoga since October and never realized that Ragdoll Pose you need to keep your feet are at hip distance. I always had my feet together and yesterday we had the best yoga teacher. He was so awesome, was running around correcting everyone's postures. Yoga teachers cannot be thanked enough for this. They are amazing!

Sukhasana problems
I have / had troubles with getting to start practicing yoga regularly. Usually when I pay for something it’s easier for me to be serious about it, so I bought yearly subscription to yoga classes. I ran into a problem on my very first exercise. I cannot get myself in sukhasana position. I’m a skinny guy, very athletic, I play sports regularly and hike a lot, I’m in good shape, but I cannot sit like that. When trying to do it I feel strong and burning pain mostly in my ankles (outher part) muscles are starting to be very stiff and I feel a bit of hips tension. Until now it has never bothered me, it’s been like that as long as I remember. Some were impressed by my certain flexible abilities and I feel flexible as well, but this pose is killing me and I just “started” to do yoga… it’s frustrating. Can I get some advices on how to improve that other then laying something to sit on? And mostly I’m interested if that is how is always gonna be or if it’s possible to change that? Thank you.

Help a beginner out :)
I just recently started doing yoga and have struggled to plan my journey. I live in a small town, so we only have a few "yoga" classes in person. But what I've noticed is that the teachers are not necessarily yoga teachers; they just work as overall fitness trainers in the gym where the class is taking place. So when I attended, they didn't try to fix anyone's form or provide any significant insight. As a college student on a budget, I decided that it just isn't worth the money that I don't really even have. So, I started using the Alo Yoga app and the series for beginners' yoga with Laura Glaser. However, it quickly became very difficult, even though I have a lot of experience with Pilates and feel like I'm in pretty good shape. Can anyone recommend how I should try to continue moving forward? I really want to get somewhat good at it, but my attempts have failed up to this point. Can I even start with ashtanga if i haven't done any other yoga before?

How to get it back?
I started yoga about 2 years ago, at a free outdoor class. My husband and I started doing yoga a few times a week in our home, using videos. I still really enjoy the once a week outdoor class, but for the last 6 months cannot motivate myself to do at-home sessions in between. Does anyone have advice for reigniting my enthusiasm? Thx

Questions about the Tvla mat
I bought a tvla mat recently and I’ve been doing hot yoga and sweat a ton, I don’t use a towel on the mat because the mat itself has enough grip. However the mat gets really sweaty and the tvla website says to only clean the mat with just water and that’s it- no cleaners etc. I’m just curious how that works?? Doesn’t the mat start to grow bacteria after a while? I don’t want to end up with a staph infection or something.

Wanted to share David Garrigues’ new book on Ashtanga Primary Series. It’s a great resource for teachers and students.
It’s super detailed, going breath-by-breath. He’s a really great teacher as well!
