[COMP] Low lunge / anjaneyasana backbend. Took my practice to the beach this morning :)

I don’t do it often because it’s messy and hard to balance on the sand, but I woke up craving the ocean and it felt great :)

[COMP] Flying splits!

This is one of my favorite poses. When I began my (consistent) journey with yoga five years ago, I had just been diagnosed with MS. After a near lifetime of body issues and disordered eating, a potentially debilitating illness saved me from myself. Now I celebrate all that my body can do (and it’s more than I ever imagined it could). Keep going, friends.

Ujjayi breathing, anyone know how to inhale?

Title says it all is it a case of inhaling with a ha I’m confused on how to do the inhale is it fine to inhale with the nose as normal?

Keep losing stability trying to get into backbend

Majority of the time when i try to get into a back bend from standing up I loose stability and just kinda “fall” into the back bend causing me to hit my head on the ground or hurting my wrists. How can i be more stable?

Dizziness poses when laying flat

I I have dizziness when laying flat on my back and turning from side to side. Happens less if I have the block under my head but I find that uncomfortable. I can also get dizzy when trying to focus my eyes in a balance spot. Any one position doesn’t bother me. It’s flow from one to another. Any tips?

Should I hold off on my practice?

I’m 24f in love with my practice. I usually do hot yoga 3-5 times a week and the sweat makes me feel good idk. Anyways I haven’t been to yoga in weeks and it’s really depressing. The reason I haven’t been going is because I haven’t been eating much due to stress, medication, and trying to quit thc(this has been the biggest factor I believe) but all of the answers just say to give my appetite time to come back. I’m fed up with waiting and I just want to go back to class, is that recommended, or should I simply wait until my body recalibrates. The only thing that makes me hesitant to go is that if I’m not eating enough, I will be too weak or may pass out from dehydration because the rooms go up to like 110 degrees. I also really don’t want to loose more weight.

Alternative poses for back flexion?

Hello, I've been suffering/dealing with back pain since my late teens. I have a L4-L5 herniation. In the past 7 months I have had the worst flair up with muscle spasms, back lock ups, and shifting. I've been getting much better in the past two months. I was going to Yoga about 4 months ago for one month and I really enjoyed it. While doing PT my therapist told me I should stay away from any spine flexion such as downward dog, child's pose, and standing forward bend. I am feeling much better overall and want to go back to yoga, but I want to ease into it and was wondering what alternate poses I can do to those? Thank you.

Why do my legs always want to externally rotate in seated folds?

I have to really force them into a neutral alignment when I've read that they should actually be slightly internally rotated to allow the hips to release more fully onto the fold. Is there anything I should do to counteract it?

Unexpected benefits of yoga - clearer nasal cavities

I've noticed that when I'm holding tension somewhere, I get all stuffed up. When I release it, the congestion in my nasal releases also. What are some other unexpected benefits of yoga?

both good and bad. death and birth. loss and gain. everything is part of life. everything belongs in this vast field of consciousness. no matter how hard it is to lovingly embrace both, embracing this truth of our oneness minimises our suffering and resistance. the truth is in our non-duality. i'm in a human body and i know first hand how painful it is to even think/fathom of death, past trauma, murder etc. and at the same time, these all part of ourselves. it's all coming from within us. it's all as it should be, at this point in time. how do you navigate the truth of our oneness + non-duality?

Caribbean Beachside Yoga Hotel/retreat recommendations

Hi everyone. I’ve looked through some previous retreat posts but was wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel or retreat in the Caribbean (preferably Mexico, Costa Rica or Belize but open to others) that also offers hiking or other activities? Basically I’m looking for something where I can do yoga, exercise, explore nature and swim in the ocean all in one day, and repeat. Hoping to do this in January/February as a goal for my practice but also to escape the frigid cold (I live in Canada). I’ve already been checking out bookyogaretreats.com but haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for so I figured I’d ask you fine humans! TIA

Loud women in my yoga class. They keep commenting on me.

These 2-3 women in my yoga class have always been the loudest, most obnoxious and the kind that speak whatever comes into their mind. They disturb everyone around them by laughing and gossiping, and hardly ever keep quiet. I, on the other hand, do not like to open my mouth during yoga unless it's absolutely necessary. So, these women keep commenting on my behaviour DURING the yoga session, things like "oh you do not even need to talk to anyone.. i bet you talk to yourself only" or "oh my god, u speak!!!?? U know how to speak??" Classic mean girls' behavior. I do not like their presence and i cannot change my timings. I think Yoga is a practice which needs absolute peace and quietness around, let alone anybody's comments on my personality or quietness. I do not know how to deal with them, or what to say. I've ignored them quite a few times but they keep doing it. Anybody else has faced such situations? What should be my best possible act to keep them away from me?
