Working out before yoga?

Hey guys! So I've just recently started taking yoga classes at my gym a few months ago. I absolutely love it but I also want to keep up with my weight training. Do you think weight training right before a heated yoga class is too much for my body?

Daily practice = more emotional?

I've practised on and off for 8 years, and have had a daily practise before (for around a month). This time round (I've been practising everyday for a week- not long I know) but I have cried SO MUCH this week. I've had an intense week anyway so it makes a lot of sense, but it feels like my emotions are moving through me more freely. Just wondering what other people's emotional experiences of yoga are like?

Hi everyone. I stumbled upon the community due to my aunt who is a devotee of the hare krsna movement. She is a sweet person who has said to me that she thoroughly enjoys the musical works of Kadamba kanana swami. To that end. Male yoga novice. Is watching the instructor normal?

I decided to try some yoga again to help with the lack of mobility I have from some previous injuries. I've participated in maybe 6 yoga classes in my entire life. I went to a hot yoga class yesterday and was the only male. I would glance at the instructor to make sure I was doing the pose correctly and she made a comment to close our eyes and not be worried about what anyone else was doing. While I don't actually know if that comment was directed at me but I felt quite embarrassed afterwards being I was the only guy. I spent the rest of the time looking at the floor or ceiling to make sure I wasn't making anyone potentially feel uncomfortable. I kind of feel too embarrassed to go back to that studio.

[COMP] Thanks to all of your advice, I've improved so much!!

What really sealed the deal for me was tucking my pelvis more along with some core work, as well as grabbing onto the book! Next step will be to balance after jumping up from the ground! Also, I'm back in my regular yoga space, so having a proper mat and not practicing against a glass door probably also helped 😁

What do you use to carry your yoga gear?

Hi friends! I’m looking for tote bag recommendations - that won’t break the bank - that would be able to comfortably fit a mat, blocks, a strap, and personal items like wallet and keys. I put a picture of what I currently have but I can’t fit blocks in it with everything else I have mentioned

hurt my back yesterday

I just was wondering if you guys had any tips for hurting your back? I definitely pulled something in yoga yesterday and the left side of my back hurts so badly. It’s my weaker side. I took a magnesium bath salt bath last night and have been putting cream on it that’s like icy hot, but anymore tips? I’m a 27F for reference and I do yoga and workout daily.

Yoga after injury

Hey all, Three weeks ago I was in an accident that left me with a concussion, broken facial bones, broken fingers on one hand and wrist on the other and a sprained neck. I’m healing well, but am feeling the effects of doing nothing but sitting for three weeks. I can do gentle walks and am having physio on my neck, but would like to incorporate some stretches for my back and lower limbs. Does anyone have suggestions for poses that basically don’t involve the upper body? Thank you! Edited to add: can’t really do any balancing either
