Studio owners! My studio (which I exclusively teach at) has over 300 5 star reviews. I had a sub yesterday and he got 1 star… how to handle it?
My yoga collective is my baby, I teach every single day whether one student or 20 students show up - and have gained over 300 5-star reviews in the process. I am traveling with my newborn to take him to meet his great grandmother in Europe in a few weeks, so yesterday I held a donation based class for the Trevor Project and let a perspective teacher take the reigns - thinking that I disclosed this was his trial class and the class was free… so how bad could it go? Well, the answer is AWFUL! I got a 1-star review from someone who didn’t even bother to make a donation to the cause… in fact 3 people decided not to donate to the cause, the class was so bad that not even Pride could save it. Should I email the girl who left the 1-star review and offer her (another) free class before I leave…. In attempt to try to salvage her experience and maybe get her to change her review… or suck it up and let it be. How would you handle if it were your studio?

I cannot recommend head stands enough.
I started randomly doing head stands two months ago and the journey has been amazing. At the beginning it was very difficult but after a week or two it felt calming and energizing to be inverted. Flexibility based poses just seem so slow to develop, but this was fast to gain skill. My obliques, traps, and shoulders all clearly show my progress. Every few weeks I move organically to a more challenging variation. For its benefits, ease of adoption, and the confidence that comes with it, I cannot recommend it enough.

To whoever is doing poses while everyone is in Shavasana...
I remember seeing a post, or a comment in a post about Shavasana and someone mentioned that they don't stay still and participate with the class in corpse pose, but continue to practice asanas. My mind has lit on this while beginning Shavasana a few times. I try so hard to not make any noise at all, or fidget in any way. Has anyone been in a class where someone has continued poses while the rest of the class was laying still? How did this work out, how did it affect you? Did the teacher address it?

Mat support for carpet
Hey yogis! I recently moved into a house with mostly carpet, and the areas without are too small/awkward to practice my yoga. There’s definitely been some slippage on the carpet, particularly in warrior 2 and other wide legged poses. I’ve seen the posts for root boards and life boards, but I’m concerned about them taking up too much space to store since I don’t have a dedicated space for my practice - I just move a chair out of the way in my room to roll out my mat and put it back when I’m done. Has anyone ever used something that rolls up, like a rolled tatami mat or something similar? Are they effective? Would it be better to just make the room to store a folding board? Thanks everyone!

Easy, beginner yoga stretches that don't have your head lower than the rest of your body?
Hi all! I think it would do me a world of good to do some stretches every morning, but a lot of the poses I've encountered have the head lower than the center of the body. I'm extremely anemic and this makes me dizzy as all hell, not really the peaceful morning stretch vibe I was going for. I was just wondering if anyone can advise me on some good all-around stretches that keep the head above the body's center of mass? Thank you very much :)
