Had my first experience with a more traditional practice (I guess) and I'm confused.
I'm 6 months into practicing yoga and have been experimenting different studios. Though I mostly stick to 2 studios, I've tried 20+ different places so far. Today, for the first time, practiced at a studio where they chanted. The practice started and ended with chanting over the sound of a harmonium played by the teacher. Since I don't know the chants (or even what they mean) I was a bit lost during those times. How do people learn those when they don't speak the language? Or are those just sounds? Am I supposed to be just following along? Is everyone else actually just following along? When I came home I watched a Sadhguru video about chants where he says most don't have a meaning. But then I missed the whole purpose. What are we trying to achieve by chanting?

New to LA :) Where are all the dedicated yoga teachers in training? I'd love to join you all!
Hi, I am looking to meet people in LA who practice and/or teach yoga consistently and with serious dedication. I have a 200hr teachers certification but would like to continue my training and most importantly, meet men and women who are into yoga, meditation, fitness, spirituality, Ayurveda, ancient wisdom, etc. and form a friend group of growth-oriented people. I am in my early 30s so a yoga studio or group that caters to people at or around my age group would be ideal. I live in west LA. Any advice on how to meet like-minded people in general in LA is also appreciated. Thanks!

Before you book that massage or get stuck in unhelpful thought patterns about your neck pain, try one or more of these yoga poses and stretches. https://t.co/YW3zePFMGN

Sleepy Guy
Anyone else have difficulty staying awake when in Shavasana? I fall asleep like once a week and feel very close every time. I do focus my breathing to fall asleep at night too, so perhaps I have practiced focused breath and relaxation with sleeping. With that, earlier this week I tried a No Sleep Deep Rest guided meditation or yoga nidra and fell asleep almost instantly! Has anyone else had this experience? I do mostly practice in the morning at night...

Yoga Flow Planning
Good dayYogi’s! , I was looking for some feedback about lesson planning. I’m going to start teaching at my local chiropractor office and am trying to get all my ducks in a row. I found a sequencing table but I’m looking for other advice about what y’all do to keep the class organized. TIA

Use the Median Nerve often throughout our day, whenever we bend our arms, wrists, hands, or first three fingers. It also has a deep connection to the brain, sending touch, pain & temp sensations to our central nervous system to process. Thanks @mayaaod https://t.co/XV7DAxwIHA https://t.co/PLYWCxXWJ0

Fitness mat for yoga class?
Hi there! I am a beginner at yoga. I'm super excited. I'm taking my first class tomorrow and I was just wondering, I only have a fitness mat to bring with me. Is this okay? It's thicker and doesn't have as much grip as a regular yoga mat but would that be okay to bring to a yoga class? I just don't know if it'll be way too slippery to practice on. Sorry for the silly question! I'm kind of nervous but I've been looking over this subreddit to prepare for the class and it's been getting me so hype!
