Thoughts on moaning/making noise during class? 😳
I was in a hot yoga class yesterday and two other students kept moaning. From my point of view, they sounded strained and distressed—but maybe from their point of view they were just releasing energy and expressing emotion as part of the yoga process? I believe that it’s rude to make noise that could distract other yogis from their practice. Also, if you’re so uncomfortable that you’re moaning, your body probably needs you to adjust your poses or attend normal-temp classes. Curious to hear other perspectives 🙂

pigeon pose aggravation
every single time i’m in pigeon pose my leg always falls asleep and it doesn’t feel how i imagine it should. if i’m doing it with my right foot for example, i keep my right knee behind my right hand, and my ankle behind my left hand at a 45 degree angle or so. i always find myself getting annoyed or aggravated when pigeon comes up in whatever class i’m following along to. i don’t know if i’m doing it wrong or if i’m doing it correctly and that’s just how it’s supposed to feel. how is it supposed to feel? am i doing it right?

I am curious to hear what you do to warm up? Do you find sun salutations an essential process? How do you balance opening and strengthening to make a pose safe? For me, I find that lunges and some iteration of the sun salutation help to prepare for later more involved postures. I think I know what Ashtanga practitioners would say.... ;D
