How are yoga classes helpful to you?
Hi everyone! I just want to promote a healthy debate about what yoga and classes means to you, and I'm not being judgy by any means. I started on yoga about 2yrs ago with a highly westernized method, Jivamukti but I found the practice very complete. As my interest was growing and started reading the texts, I came across the conclusion that yoga, for me, is a introspective practice that allows you to better know yourself by connecting body and mind, within yourself and the whole. With this in mind, I stopped trying to achieve the complex/advanced asanas or even perfecting the ones in my practice, accepting what the body allows me to is different every day. I quitted classes because I cant understand how it helps me. How do you see yoga as a practice and which is your understanding of yoga classes role on your path? Thanks!

just finished week 1 of yoga. I feel the difference already.
Not entirely sure if this is placebo but.. since starting yoga I definitely feel more relaxed, my mood has improved, my back pain has diminished significantly, and my mind feels more quiet and in the present. Tomorrow will be day 10, and I'm definitely looking forward to it. Also, a reddittor had suggested I read The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Great book. Not a quick read imo, as it has many parts that require contemplation but an excellent intro to yoga nonetheless.

The root of peace of mind is compassion. As soon as most of us are born our mothers take care of us and give us our first lessons in compassion. Without this we would not survive. This is how our life begins.

Yoga for digestion?
Ive been having digestive issues and after all sorts of medications not working and tests coming back fine, i really think there could be a connection to a hip injury I had a while back / a very tight psoas muscle pressing on my digestive track. I was wondering if anyone knew of poses that target the psoas muscle? Or that support digestive health in general?
