C-Section 24 Hr. Nerve Block
I had a c-section with my June 2022 babe and they gave me a 24 hour localized nerve block at the incision site. Same with my close friend. We both had the deliveries within the same hospital system although at different specific hospitals. My SIL just had her c-section and whatever they gave her only lasted TWO hours so she is in excruciating pain. This was NOT my experience at all. My pain was manageable by the time the block wore off a day later. I barely needed the narcotic during my entire recovery. So my question is - did you guys that had c-sections NOT get the 24 hour nerve blocker? I thought because I had it it was standard but now I guess not? If you didn’t have it - what did you do for the pain? She’s taking heavy narcotics now (fentanyl and oxy) because her pain is so bad but she wants to BF so they want her to stop. I’m not sure how to advise her because my pain was totally manageable with this blocker.

Enterprise Car Seat Rental
Has anyone here rented a car seat from Enterprise? How was your experience? I’m flying solo with my 18mo and I’ve reserved a car seat with my car, but I’m having second thoughts on tryin to bring her own car seat. It would be so nice not to need to lug it through security with her. But her being in a quality safe seat is my main priority at the end of the day.

Baby carriers
Does anyone have any baby carrier recommendations? Ideally on a budget please 🙏 My little girl is 6 months and I'm wanting to start using a carrier for out and about to save lugging our pram around. I've been looking on amazon and there's so much choice I don't even know where to start 🙃

faster let down?
Breastfeeding mamas I need advice. I EBF but the past few weeks my letdown varies widely. Sometimes it kicks in after 45 seconds. Sometimes after six minutes. A couple times now my LO has been unsuccessful in triggering it so we’ve had t to give him a pumped bottle. He’s 16 weeks tomorrow. I know milk is no longer sore and is now produced on demand, so it can take longer- but we can all agree 6 min is too long. (I was going to pull him off but he wouldn’t let go so I just let him keep trying.) I don’t think it’s my period. It’s been happening over the past two weeks. I’m taking magnesium just in case. I’m drinking a ton of water. It comes in when I pump and I easily pump 3-4 ounces when I grab it after he’s been unsuccessful. We got his tongue tie resolved. Any tips or tricks? I don’t want to give up nursing.

How often is your baby happy vs. crying while awake?
I’m on my second baby (1 month old), and if he’s awake, he’s typically screaming or crying. He occasionally will be complacent for 3-5 minutes, but it takes a lot of work. We think there is gas/reflux involved, but it’s likely also just temperament/how he is. Our first child was similar. Apparently some babies are happy while awake?! We haven’t experienced this, at least in the newborn/infant stage. So just out of curiosity- how much of your baby’s awake time is happy time?

Pretty sure my son hates me.
First time parents, and nothing about this process has been easy whatsoever, and I never expected it to be easy. However, the amount of just other resistance I’ve met from my newborn is extremely discouraging. He can be with pretty much everybody else and be fine not fussy, crying, upset screaming, etc but as soon as he comes into my contact, regardless of my mood mental state or his current state of well-being he screams refuses to eat and is inconsolable. He just turned three months old about two days ago and this has been going on for about a week and a half now. Obviously I’m a new parent so I don’t really know a lot but I’m confused at what could’ve possibly changed and why he just seems to fucking hate me.

Took my boy to a gaming event
I took my boy (7 years ) to a gaming event where he gets to meet youtubers. Once we got in he got nervous and asked to go out, I forced him to stay and he had a blast. I took him previously to some play places when we get in and he asks to go out immediately and I never forced him to stay, now I’m regretting it :(

Bromos with kiddos on the spectrum
I don’t know what exactly I’m looking for here. Commiseration? Someone telling me everything will be okay? A hug and some (non-alcoholic) wine? Kiddo is 2.5 and has a bunch of red flags for ASD. We’ve been doing speech and OT for almost a year and we’ve seen a bunch of improvement but he still struggles at school (following directions, playing with other kids, speech still behind, some minor sensory stuff.) The teachers love him and he’s not disruptive, just wants to do his own thing. We’re in the process of getting a formal (medical) diagnosis, as well as continuing on with therapy, and I think I’m just overwhelmed. He’s the greatest, sweetest, funniest kid ever. Very go with the flow, sleeps well, does great at the store and on trips. I’m just worried what the future will hold and how I can best support him. I’m also 15 weeks pregnant and very emotional lol

Friction blisters?
My baby sometimes gets these friction blisters on his head or other parts of the body. They usually go away within the day. I suspected friction blisters since it’s usually after tummy time. Has anyone seen this? Is it worth a visit to the dr?

Help for a new dad?
Hi everyone, I'm(28F)currently 7weeks pregnant with my second child. My fiance is 31M and it's his first child. We found out after I was in a lot of pain and thought my ovary twisted from a cyst or whatever. Turns out it's a little 🍤 haha. I have a 7 year old from a previous relationship and fiance has been around since she was 4. So he has experience around that age. My fiance is nervous, rightfully so. He's never changed or held a baby in his life. And I played the role of a single mom before he came along so I'm not really a great help, outside of videos and sort. Any tips for him to help himself? To help me and our family as a whole? I don't want him to get overwhelmed so I'd like to try and prepare him a little so he feels more confident and prepared for what's coming. 😊 Thank you all 🫶

Flying for the first time in years
This summer I'm taking the first flight with my sun (pre-school aged) and his sister (a few years older). When my daughter was 10 months old we flew to Asia, but that was a) a baby, b) years ago, c) only one kid. Any suggestions for parents flying for the first time in a long time. We're flying on SouthWest if that matters. So far: we have the special markers that only mark on special paper. I have a FAA approved FlySafe Harness for my son (do I need anything for an elementary aged kid?) Renting a car on the other side (Enterprise) and will be getting rental car seats through them

Tips for daycare napping. Help!!
My son just turned 18 months and just started daycare this past Monday. He’s def having a rough transition with the biggest thing being he has not slept during nap time at all. At home he was sleeping 12:30-2:30/3 everyday without an issue. Nap time at daycare is 12:30-2:30 so the timing works perfectly with his current schedule. The issue is at home he sleeps in a crib in a dark room where at daycare they sleep on mats on the floor and leave the lights on. I know he is distracted because he can still access all the toys and therefore is not laying down to sleep. Does anyone have advice on what I can do to help with this transition? Will he eventually just catch on? I feel so bad because when I pick him up he is clearly exhausted and very emotional. He definitely needs a nap during the day.

At the ER for chest pain 9 days PP, I feel silly.
I'm a first time mom, just gave birth vaginally eith induction 9 days ago. No problems. A few days ago I noticed I'm getting sharp pains in my chest when lying down. They get worse when i try taking a deep breath. My shoulders and upper back hurt as well. I tried a heating pad, tylenol, hot shower. It didn't do anything. I'd wake up in the middle of the night with this intense stabbing pain everynight for like 4 nights now? But as soon as I sit up and walk around it goes away. I messaged my OB and she said to go to the ER to rule out a clot. I'm obviously an anxious mess. I don't want a CT scan, MRIs and all that. I just saw the triage nurse and he said it's most likely muscle strain (which is what I'm thinking too, given that I was crunched up when I was pushing the babes out, that and my boobs being so much heavier). Which eased my anxiety. They're going to do an EKG real quick. Wish me luck 🙌

Travelling with formula fed baby
Looking for any advice/ words of wisdom… We’re going on our first real vacation with baby, who will be 5 months old. We have a 5 hour flight, land at midnight, staying at an airport hotel, then driving the next day to a beach campground where we will be staying in a shack type cabin for a few nights. We’ve done one 2-night camping trip in our trailer before, as well as a cabin weekend with friends (by cabin I fully equipped house on a lake lol), so I’m not entirely inexperienced at baby travel, but this will be our first flight and hotel room stay. Anything you wish someone told you before your first flight with baby? Specifically around bringing enough formula/bottles/water? Tips and tricks to make it easier? It’s times like this I’m a little jealous of the breastfeeding moms who can just whip out a boob and call it a day without the logistics of making formula and keeping bottles clean! Help!

When does your country say it’s alright for the following?
A) toddler pillow B) blanket/ duvet C) lovey or small stuffed toy in bed Also do you know why that age is deemed the “safe age” (ex. Baby has reached a milestone, reached a certain weight, there’s some sort of anatomical/ physiological change…)
