Rescued and reunited! In an unusual event, a wild bear cub was successfully rescued and reunited with her mother in a joint operation conducted by Wildlife SOS, officials from Van Vihar National Park, and the Forest Department. Estimated to be around 1.5 years old, the sloth bear was found entwined in a barbed wire fence in Chiklod forest range of Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Rajat Kulkarni, our veterinary officer immobilized the cub to carefully separate the entangled fur from the wire. After an on-site medical examination, the bear was deemed fit to return to wild. Barbed wire fences and traps are often set by locals to prevent wild animals from raiding their crop fields. Unfortunately, these devices injure animals and even cause deaths.
