‘On site,’ Kevin Beasley’s first solo gallery exhibition in Los Angeles, is currently on view at Regen Projects through June 25. Among the works presented is ‘THE SOURCE,’ 2022, an ambitious new sound sculpture in the form of a modified utility pole that rises high into the gallery. Field recordings gathered in a variety of locations emanate from a network of speakers placed throughout the space and on the rooftop. With this work, Beasley materially alters and reimagines a ubiquitous marker of urban infrastructure in terms of what such an object could be, inviting unlimited possibilities and future applications.
