Bird on a stick, but its a bird I don't see very often. Broad-billed Flycatcher. Actually the stick is a very short stick, sticking out of the mud along with lots of other sticks - I don't remember how I isolated him from the sticks. I got this shot in Broome last year. I never noticed until tonight he has a bug in his bill. Such a gorgeous little bird to watch. #broadbilledflycatcher #flycatchersofinstagram #best_birds_planet #birdstagram #birdphotography #feather_perfection #bird_brilliance #raw_birds #birdsofaustralia #wildgeography #animal_fanatics #instawildlife #wildlife_perfection #macro_turkey k

How hard does a bird’s heart work? Well, it depends, but overall the energy demands of flight require that its heart beats much faster than a mammal's. Take the heartrate of an active hummingbird, which pumps at 1,200 beats per minute. https://t.co/Cp3KYOTuPJ @BirdNoteRadio https://t.co/OgI2b3Uq5b

White Ibis are natural wanderers, traveling far and wide for a meal. But now some birds are scoring steady grub by settling in around people. What does that mean for the species’ future—and what does it say about ours? https://t.co/BetGhhUoOS
