PSA: Make sure you have your server(s) Backed up.
I was just reading a Reddit post from a Sys admin. He was asking for advice on how to convince his boss, the Owner, to update their 10 year old server and to add backups. The entire business file system runs on that 1 server. Its a ticking bomb waiting to go off. Don't ignore this, or forget about it. IT will bite you. A simple question to ask yourself, how much would it cost you, and hurt you if your file server(s) died right now? For your critical operations on your business, assume that your PC's or Servers will die. As an absolute minimum, go and buy external USB hard drives and copy things over. Like right now.

How can a teacher become a millionaire?
I am 23 and studying to be a teacher, obviously I can’t become a millionaire on a teachers salary. But it might be possible to become a millionaire with some kind of side business. If so what would be the best side business, and how should I go about it? Thoughts?

Fishing Lure Business Name Ideas
Hey all, I am starting a lure-making business and wanted to name the business something Navy related. The lures I am starting with are jigs for bass fishing, but I was in the Navy for 8 years, so I thought a cool Navy/Sailor-themed name would be great. HOWEVER- I need ideas... Here's my top three so far: \- Nautical Lures \- Popeye's Fishing Supply \- Squid's Jigs

Does a mystery football shirt subscription service have potential?
Me (17m) and my friend from school(17m) have had the idea of a business whereby the customer pays a set price and will receive a random football shirt in a custom box with information on the shirt. We have seen a few mystery football shirt accounts advertising on instagram. It may sound like there is already a lot of competition but there don’t really seem to be any market leaders with no reputable names dominating the market. Some of my friends all payed for mystery shirts and they really enjoyed them so I guess there must be some demand. To differentiate from the other mystery football shirt businesses out there we thought a subscription service may be better whereby a monthly amount is payed and you receive a random football shirt each month. I appreciate this may be relatively niche especially to those in America (I’m UK based where football is more followed here) but general feedback about the idea would be really appreciated just to hear other peoples opinions.

Is there some way to see the historical data of followers growth of any Instagram influencer?
Just like there is backerkit which displays historical data of backing of any project on Kickstarter, I guess some project could be doing the same for Instagram followers as well. By the way, I don't know if Kickstarter officially offers APIs to third parties interested in providing the data from their platform or not. If so, I don't know why Kickstarter does not offer this service itself.

Do you guys visit manufacturers/copackers, etc?
I've been watching The Profit because it's pretty darned educational. However, I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the wrong idea about the possible importance (or if it's a "done thing") of visiting new manufacturers, copackers, marketing houses, whatever, that you are considering doing business with. I know for the show, it's entertaining and educational to show them being visited. But in real life? Is this something I should absolutely do? Or am I right in thinking that these kind of business negotiations are done via email/phone/zoom?

1099 for contract worker?
For context: I am in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area) I’ve been paying someone hourly as a contractor (max of 20 hours a week) to work on a software project. What are my tax obligations here? From all my research, it looks like I need to issue the contractor a 1099 form, but from further research, that only seems necessary if I’m doing it as a registered business — yet I’ve been paying the worker directly out of my pocket, without a registered business. So as an individual paying a freelancer, what are my obligations for tax duties? What are the tax obligations of the worker?

Always on car chargers
Had this idea for a while, but wanted to know what the public's opinion on it is first. For those unaware, some vehicles will not charge your phone or accessories through the cig lighter port charger if your car isn't on. With today's growing number of chargeable accessories (earphones, watches, phones, vapes) I think it would be very convenient to add this capability to people's cars. My current daily driver does this task just fine I've even charged multiple items overnight and there was no issue in the morning or any parasitic loss. I would charge a flat fee per car covering my labor and the parts. Thoughts?

Small Business Loan - Bank Requires Projections
I'm trying to get a small business loan for an expansion we are doing. We have no debt and we have been making profit the past 3 years. The bank has asked for projections after expansion. Any ideas or recommendations on how to do this? Do I just put "In 2021 we made 800 000$. With a bigger location and more equipment, we expect a 50% increase in sales and 20$ % increase in profit". Is there a template I can use? Any help would be appreciated.

City Business License
I'm starting an eCommerce business from home. I've used a virtual business address service to receive mail and to keep my home address private on the LLC filing with the state (California). The city of the virtual business address and my home are different cities. Do I have to register my business in the city of the virtual business address or the city where my home is? Thanks.

Would you like to learn how to manage your own Google Ads?
Hi! I'm currently a well-paid employee that's done Google ads for the last 10 years and I'm on the verge of quitting to start my own business for two reasons: * I'm tired of the rat race and working to fit into someone else's mould of how to work. * I absolutely hate the underhanded tactics some companies use to keep small businesses 'married' to them. They keep getting paid hefty commissions while they get a 20-year old to work on their advertising for a couple of hours a week. I've taught a lot of these 20-year olds in my company how to do Google ads like a pro and wanted to know if there would be a market for this if I broke out on my own to teach a business to be self reliant for their marketing. LMK. I'd really like to know your thoughts on what the market would find useful. Cheers!

best place for business banking / credit card?
sorry if this is a weird question for this group but not sure where else to go for some experienced insight. i recently changed from a sole prop to an s corp and will be getting a business account and a credit card. i’ve always kept my unofficial “business” account with a credit union. just wondering if there is any advantage or disadvantage to that over a bigger bank like chase and along with that choosing a card from another bank (credit union account, chase ink card or some combo like that)
