Selling Toys on FB Marketplace is Hell on Earth

This isn’t necessarily parenting related but I can’t be the only one who is just trying to get all this shit out of my house, and posting toys and kids stuff on FB Marketplace for sale only to end up beyond frustrated. I get absolutely inundated on bullshit toys, but people will try to negotiate on a 5 dollar toy or say they will come for it but never do. Stuff that is actually good quality (think, pickler triangle, learning tower) no one wants. I buy tons of stuff on Marketplace because I want to be less wasteful and do secondhand whenever possible. So, I would like to do the same and sell, it is just way harder than it needs to be. End rant 🙃

Nobody Warned Me!

Watching Encanto for the first time and I’m 4 weeks PP and now I’m crying because of the flashback scene of when they had to flee their town and Abuelo had to say goodbye to his kids and wife. I was not prepared to cry over a Disney movie while holding my son 😭😂

Frustrating

I am so frustrated… My fiancé will not stop smoking and we have a newborn. I told him if he’s going to smoke he needs to change is clothes, wash his hands or jump in the shower and he just won’t. He sprays smelly cologne all over himself and then tries to hold her which I’m not okay with. I’ve told him multiple times, and I don’t know how much more I can do or how many more times I can ask the same thing. My daughter means too much to me. If anyone has any type of advice it is appreciated.

Couples: how did you handle the changes after baby was born?

I'm due in May and I'm obviously expecting everything to change. One being my marriage. I'm a little sad to think that it will never just be the two of us. I see so many people on here grow to resent their partner and I don't want that to be us. I've been thinking of things we should do for us and our relationship when the baby gets here. Ideally a date night per month once I'm feeling okay after birth. We love going out to eat and seeing a movie, and I hope we can still do that sometimes. Giving each other a separate 'me day' where we can focus on ourselves. Splitting things up equally. Not like him doing the dishes while I change the diapers. But everything actually gets split up so that it's not just one us caring for the baby. Any tips? Anyone want to share their experience with their partner after the baby was born?

Parent Hack: Easy pizzas for kids using naan bread.

Something my 2 and 5 year old have loved to eat and make us our personal pizzas. The hack is to use naan bread (we get the garlic naan pack from Costco). Each kids gets one or two to sauce up, sprinkle cheese and add toppings. Then throw it in the oven for a few minutes and cut it up when cheese is melted. For the 4 of us we’d make 5 or 6 with 1 or 2 of them with newer toppings to try out. Let me know what you think.

I had recurrent miscarriages, followed by death of a pre term neonate baby, and I have a hectic job (I am a doctor.. resident Paediatrician. Ironic?) Now that I have conceived again, should I take a leave in early pregnancy?

I lost my 2 early pregnancies and then in my 3rd one I started having bleeding again while I was wearing my PPE on my 30 hour call in COVID ward. And I had to leave during the call and request another on call resident to keep an eye on the patients. Then in the extremely stressful 30 hour calls I started getting sick. My blood pressure started rising and I used to land in gynae ER, leaving paediatric ICU in the hand of my juniors. And finally I had a preterm baby who died. Now I have conceived again, a year after the baby. Now by dates I am on 6th week but according to scan just 5th one. And my gynaecologist says it's up to me to get rest. I don't know. Should I ? Because I have limited leaves (including sick leaves) and I have to complete the excessive leaves after completion of my residency... I already have 4 months extra due to previous sickness and maternity. Should I take a weeks leave now or reserve it for later ?

Someone please explain to me why swings/seats etc cause issues with head shape but sleeping 10000000 hours on a hard flat surface does not…?

Trying to do research and due diligence bc we have been relying on a little vibrating seat and a swing pretty heavily with our newborn (under 2 weeks). She is always supervised in the swing and seat so that’s not an issue, but I’ve read it can cause “container baby syndrome” which messes with her head shape, muscles etc. I guess what I’m failing to see is how sleeping on her back in a seat and sleeping on her back in a bassinet is literally any different as far as problems with head shape and muscles. She is going to be asleep either way, but the seat is portable and she sleeps great in it and I am failing to see why we should give it up as long as she is supervised.

When did your baby start to laugh or giggle?

I’m just curious as I’ve heard 3 months. Sitting here at 3.5 months and getting impatient. I’m not worried and know every baby is different, just curious about other babies. Thanks!

Anyone else’s baby seem to enjoy being left alone?

Not all the time but at least once a day my baby cannot be soothed. He’s not hungry, he’s not tired, he doesn’t wanna play with us, nothing. So, we just pop him on his mat with his toys and then he’s quiet and content finally. It’s like he’s just tired of us bothering him and wants to do his own thing!

Newborn Finally Napping!

FTM, 7 week old baby started napping in her bassinet today without fussing and for 2-3 hours at a time. Normally she fights naps and her bassinet/only wants to nap while being held. I haven’t had her go downs for naps this easy since week 1. I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, things really do get better! Hoping this continues for us. Also, any other moms out there who had this happen and started worrying? Lol I know this is normal as she is eating and wetting her diapers as usual. Just did not expect her to one day scream while being put down to falling asleep and staying asleep!
