What do other seasonal business owners do for the rest of the year?

My business is seasonal and only operates for about half the year. We are busy in season but don't make enough revenue for me to pay myself enough throughout the off season. Anyone else have a seasonal business? What do you do for cash in the off season?

Do I make a deal with the devil and advertise on Yelp?

My low voltage contracting company has a little over 60 five-star reviews on Yelp, but only 12 on Google. Early on we really pushed Yelp and got a ton of organic leads. Lately, the leads have dried up and I see several of my competitors with significantly fewer reviews gaining traction. I am willing to "pay to play" so to speak, but wonder if it will be justified. Anyone with any positive Yelp advertising experiences?

Looking for a family run small 3 Rd party logistics (3pl) in US.

We want to work with a small company so we have better communication. All the big ones have too much going for a small business like us.

Paying Estimated Taxes as S-Corp

Sorry if this has been answered before. My wife has a small business LLC (100% owner with reasonable salary) that became an S-Corp as of January 2023. In the past we have paid estimated quarterly taxes with Direct Pay, through the IRS. I was reading about EFTPS being required for businesses, but is that only for Form 940/941 and other taxes our payroll company is already processing on our behalf? Do we continue to make estimated quarterly payments through Direct Pay, if we want?

Can I fix this?

So I have a sole proprietorship that I haven't earned any revenue with because I'm not ready to start taking on clients at the moment. However in preparation I have a business bank account linked to both PayPal and Venmo business profiles. The problem is I got paid a few times through Venmo to babysit and I accidentally wound up depositing the funds into my business checking account rather than my personal one. I'm terrified to transfer the money back out because I don't want the IRS to suddenly come breaking down my door but at the same time it's almost 300 dollars that I could really use right now. Neither the bank or the CPA I spoke with were helpful and Google has left me with more questions than answers so I don't know where else to turn.

Looking for Technical Co-Founder

I have a 5 year old business in the video game industry, I want to develop a major site to compete with the existing ones. TDLR; It's been modestly successful. Websites that connect buyers and sellers that are major players have revenues of up to $50M/year. There is really only 3 competitors, and they all have massive flaws, outdated systems, and tons of problems. I am well versed in the industry, have capital, and also a legal and business education. I am looking for a technical Co-founder (who can code full stack) for this project, I'm offering a 50/50 split of stock and will provide all capital funding for the business. For reference, the newest of the 3 competitors (4 years old) now makes approx $5-10M a year. Feel free to post/pm me your discord. Please only reach out if you are highly skilled at web development and can complete complex e-commerce needs on your own.

Understanding loss due to missed deadline

I was talking to someone at the shop earlier about this and realized I don't have a great understanding of how missed deadlines affect profit. I know they do, but I couldn't explain why or by how much. I understand loss from going over budget of course, if we should do a job in 85 hours and we do it in 90 it's our profit from the labor times 5 hours. But what if the job is still in budget but took longer than expected? Lets say a project should take 85 hours over 6 weeks, and it was done in 85 hours over 8 weeks. I've always looked at it as every week extra we lose a weeks profit from the job. Do I have that right? Almost all of our work is on a 6 week turnaround, we scale the jobs to accomplish this, so one way I've thought about it is, if we went 1 week over on 6 projects that equals 1 less project we can do per year.

4 day work week thoughts

Is it just me or has the idea of a 4-day work week taken the workforce by storm lately? Articles on *why* or *why not* to do it are blowing up my LinkedIn and Reddit. And everyone has an opinion. So here’s mine😏 I think it's an amazing option for small, remote, teams ***if*** you have clearly defined * expectations of performance * detailed KPIs * have a team you can trust Why not try it out and see how business & the team perform on a trial basis? My full thoughts [here](https://remotefirstrecruiting.com/blog/4-day-work-week) Would love to know your thoughts. Are you for or against it? Already implemented it? How's it going for your team so far? Thanks! \-Krista

Discrepancy over a new customer

I have been working on a commission basis. We use a third party application that provides us leads of potential customers. The initial agreement between me and my employer was that I would use this portal and get a commision out of customers that are converted. I used to go skim through the old data and approach potential customers. I dropped a mail and due to the timing of the mail being right ( customer facing a problem with their existing vendor ) we got an entry to serve the customer. We ended up bagging the customer but my employer says that since the data was old and belonged to the company, I don't get any compensation for the effort I put into that Who's right here and how to handle such a situation?

Checklist for home watch service.

Hello all, I am starting a home watch service and need to share a checklist with my clients as I perform my inspections. Ultimately I would like to be able to check off the items as I go and have the ability to write notes if anything needs to be addressed. The end result being able to share the findings with my client via email as a pdf. I have started making a google form but it seems like it might be difficult to use with several customers. Is there anything available that is easy to set up that with minimal cost? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Possible OSINT company

Hi, I am making a business plan for a possible OSINT company. This company will offer risk assessments, due diligence, and threat monitoring. Using Mintzberg's structure, would my company lean more toward adhocracy or professional bureaucracy?
