Business has closed—who to use for references?
I closed my business several months ago (thanks COVID). Just now dipping my toes in the job interview waters. When you’ve been your own boss, who do you use as a professional reference for a new job? My partners in business were family, so that doesn’t really work either.

Today was a great day!
Let me first say that I have great compassion for those owners and employees of small businesses that are struggling. I’ve had my business for 16 years and I’ve been there. It sucks. Today was a very rewarding day for me as a business owner. I was able to surprise our employees with a work related gift (a wooden model of one of our products) and they loved it. Also, one of our younger employees finished his Finance MBA and he was given a large bonus. He’s great, he helps out everywhere and never complains, takes on any task and completes them and handles our financials. I hope he stays for a long time. Being able to give back to our employees is by far one of the most rewarding facets of owning a business. Today was a great day!

Bitcoin’s carbon footprint is embarrassing, not just for Tesla but for millennial crypto investors who care about green issues, writes @gilliantett. Nobody can afford to ignore environmental, social and governance concerns, even in stocks labelled as ESG https://t.co/6vruMpNkVN

Is a cash contribution to my new LLC tax deductible from my own personal income?
Like the title states, I'm more interested in finding out the tax implications for myself than my LLC. If I contribute any amount of money to my business, is any of this tax deductible for my own personal taxes? If not, are there any options that would have a similar outcome? Thanks!

My shop just doubled its size... Help!
Hello group, I own a shop in my town's city center where I sell micromobility products (ebikes, electric scooters,...) and also have a separate workshop/repair area. A few weeks ago I was offerend the oportunity to buy the shop next door (bargain price) and just jumped into it as our showroom is ever growing and we could do with the additional workshop space (it only takes knocking down a couple of walls). Now... I am having second thoughts about using the new space (×2 current shop size) only as an extension of the current showroom. It feels a bit like a wasted chance to introduce a different activity that might generate additional income, but I just can't think of something that "marries well" into my current retail business. Any ideas? I am sooo open to crazy suggestions 😄 thank you!

Which is better for a sales representative, DBA or LLC?
I just got a job working as a sales representative for a roofing company in Texas. I get paid solely off of commission. They said an LLC would be the best route to go but since I don’t already have one, I’m operating as a DBA at the moment. I believe an LLC is the better way to go taxes wise etc. But could someone help me out with examples and how I would go about doing this? Specifically tax examples between the two and a business account with the LLC. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Health insurance
My wife is starting a small business later this year (less than 5 employees), and we were discussing whether we should offer health benefits to employees. Does anyone have any advice? Is it too costly with so few employees?

Setting prices
I just started a small business yesterday focusing on digital advertising and media creation. I have a couple clients that have shown interest but I have no idea how to price it well. I'll be creating and promoting ads for other small companies. What's a good way to figure out how much to charge so I don't overcharge, but also won't be taken advantage of?
