It's Time for our partner to Retire! Is this fair??
Ok so it's beyond time for my 65 yr old father to exit our business. It's been an extremely rough last year dealing with him. It's to the point now where his being involved (even in the greatly reduced role he's in now) hurts the business. It's bad for our bottom line and our customer base. He currently has no business control (S-Corporation) as he's no longer on the board or an officer. Myself and the other board member talked about terminating his employment completely but we'd rather not even though we certainly could and some would probably say we actually should. So basically we think it's fair to remove him from active involvement and keep him on the payroll at a salary based on a retirement pension calculation, which comes to $13,000 a year salary. So he would continue to receive that salary as well as any profit distributions in accordance with his 30% shareholder percentage. Of course he is fighting us on everything. Am I an asshole or is this very fair?
