Taxation discouraging business growth in UK. How do other countries compare?
Hi, I have a small business in UK. Ever since starting and doing some research it became obvious being in service industry that being VAT registered would hinder the business quite a bit. So there is already incentive to stay under 85k sales and save money. There are other incentives tiny business gets i.e employer tax repreive but it is only ever enough for one employee. After growing my business I am now facing another threshold of 280k sales whereby I have to join 20% VAT scheme which for a service business is pretty much a flat 20% tax on all earnings. There are no incentives to grow at all, the responsibility of having employees, growing a business is also compounded by having higher tax liability which seems completely counter intuitive. I was wondering if those of you based in other countries have some sort of tax relief or other benefits that come with growing?

Reducing the 3% payments fees
I run a coffee shop and I'm tired of paying 3% in credit card fees. Has anyone tried convincing your customers to pay you through ACH/bank transfer which costs less than 1%? I have a loyalty program where I give back 10% to loyal customers that have spent at least $50. I was thinking what if I change the rules a bit. What if I start giving 10% off starting from a customer's 2nd purchase but the customer has to pay through ACH/bank transfer. Which means customer won't get the 10% off if you pay by credit card. That way my payments fees reduces from 3% to <1% for all my loyal customers. Does anyone know if this can work or how to make it work?

My New Journey
Hi everyone I am newer to Reddit but I like hearing all the different pieces of advice. After 16 years at UPS I decided to quit this year. I am tired of the corporate world and my boss was not a good person whatsoever. My father in law introduced me to a gentleman here locally that has owned and operated a cellulose insulation company. He is ready to retire and wants to sell the business so my wife and I decided to purchase it. In our negotiations he has agreed to stay on for a year and teach me everything I need to know. His (mine once the loan goes through) crew consists of three gentleman all older than me that have been working for the company 15 plus years. I was in management at UPS so I pride myself on trying to put myself in the workers shoes, which is a dying art within the corporate structure. I want to keep an open mind going into this any small business advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Shawn

1 a week
I have had an idea for a charity where people sign up and give £1/$1 or €1 a week, then at the end of the month there is a vote where everyone can vote from a selection of charities where we can donate the money. There will be clear transparency with a running count of how much money has been raised and all proceeds will go to the chosen charity. Do you think this is a good idea?

How to drive more website traffic and conversions for small business?
Hello, I have a single-person electrical engineering design services business. Things are going well, but I want to grow! I get most work from Upwork, which is good so for, but I need to start getting clients directly. I have a new website, and a running google ads campaign. However, the ads don't seem to be working very well, and I don't know how to manage and optimize those ads to improve them. That's all very much outside my wheel-house. When I search around the web there is an absolute ocean of services that might help, but I don't know enough to intelligently sift through them based on my needs. I know many people here have been in this position, so what did you do? Any good companies to recommend that I can use to improve my website conversions?

Single Member LLC Tax Credits
I am new to being a small business owner. The other day I was told that for single member LLCs, the first $10,350 of their income is exempt from federal income tax. After that the next $9,000 or so is only taxed at 10%. I spent time on [IRS.gov](https://IRS.gov) and other sites to try and verify this but I couldn't find much. Is this accurate? Thanks

Where to find product
I've been following a brand and am realizing that their products seem to be very similar to other brands out there. In the fashion industry, where to brands source their merchandise? [https://www.nineteeneightysevenco.com/](https://www.nineteeneightysevenco.com/) [https://thejubileeapparel.com/collections/best-sellers/products/oversized-sweatpants-chocolate-brown](https://thejubileeapparel.com/collections/best-sellers/products/oversized-sweatpants-chocolate-brown) [https://thehappycamp3r.com/collections/cloud-collection/products/cloud-cropped-hoodie-mocha](https://thehappycamp3r.com/collections/cloud-collection/products/cloud-cropped-hoodie-mocha) Pretty sure these are all sourced from a similar place. Any ideas how to figure out where they're from? Thanks!

I'm writing a project about credit cards for small businesses
I'm in a banking highschool and my latest project is about small businesses. The topic is credit cards and I need to research reviews and opinions about it. I need absolutely anything you can give me - your own opinion, an internet site, subreddit etc. (The project is about UniCredit Bulnank's service if that helps a little). I'm really sorry if this post against the rules - I'll delete it if I have to.
