Looking through last summers photos I found a few favorites from my dahlia breeding patch. I’m counting down the days until I see these beauties again, plus the other 400 varieties in the collection! Tomorrow is Discovering Dahlias official publication date and the chapter I’m most excited for you to read is the one on breeding/hybridizing. I’m hoping that it sparks a flurry of new varieties being bred in backyards, gardens and farms all over the world. Tomorrow we will also be restocking signed books with seeds (from my breeding patch) so if you missed out before, tomorrow’s your chance. We have a limited number so be sure to set a reminder for 8am PST to snag one. #discoveringdahlias

Beatrix Potter (1866 – 1943) is known for her beloved children’s books, but she was also a scientist fascinated by fungi. She studied and conducted experiments on fungi reproduction and development. She also drew hundreds of highly detailed fungi illustrations. 🍄 https://t.co/NKbyZiJ63A

Marianne North (1830 – 1890) was a remarkable woman and botanical painter. She created over 800 paintings of more than 900 species of plants during her solo travels across the world in the late 1800s. These masterpieces now line the walls of the Marianne North Gallery at Kew. 🎨 https://t.co/xu8mCmWKZJ
