Marking this moment. Yesterday the first breeding zinnias went into the ground. Weโve been experimenting with some different techniques when it comes to choosing and stabilizing varieties. Iโm excited to see if our theories prove to be true. If they donโt at least we will still learn something valuable! Our outside zinnias wonโt get planted for a few more weeks but since these are undercover they can go in a bit earlier. And weโre intentionally planting them very close together because most of the plants will get rogued out as the season progresses. #floretseeds

Last week I was harvesting tulips & Finn asked me if I would take his picture. He said he wanted an armload done both smiling & serious. I had to giggle to myself because he was really into it, even critiquing each photo. As I was taking his picture he told me that he was practicing for when Iโm a grandma & he takes care of the farm. Well, he didnโt have to wait too long since Iโve been down with a nasty case of food poisoning the past few days. Farmer Finn has been taking care of all the watering, opening & closing the greenhouses & even picked some more tulips. Thanks buddy, I know the farm is in good hands! ๐ #flowerfarmer #flowerfarm #flowerfarming #tulips #springflowers #flowers #gardening #cutflowers #freshflowers #localflowers #armloadofflowers #thefarmhouseflowerfarm #pnw #stanwood

For the seventh year in a row, we're honored to bring back our partnership with everymomcounts โ an organization dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe, equitable, and respectful for every mother, everywhere. Founded in 2010 by Christy Turlington Burns, EMC works to make pregnancy and childbirth a universally safe and joyful experience by investing in community-based maternal care organizations, engaging with policymakers at all levels of government to inspire change, and building awareness about maternal health. For each Every Mother Counts bouquet, vase, vase baby, and Big Box sold during the month of May, Farmgirl will donate $10 to support EMC's work to ensure quality, respectful, and equitable maternal care for all โค๏ธ
